If this is what Bali used to be before millions of tourists descended on it then I am so happy I managed to grab a slice of it in 2025. Villa Boreh is so far from the hustle and bustle of the southern cities of Bali that it feels like it's in another country. The villa is a long way from the main road down a narrow road that can barely fit a car. Once on the property you are greeted by friendly staff, lovely villas and 3 pools with beautiful meals. The beach is at your door step and snorkels are provided free of charge. If you want quiet time to unwind and be pampered at their spa then this is the place for you. If you want any shopping, lots of activity and outdoor sports, then avoid. We went to kes village and met the locals there and got a lovely massage from Illuh who runs a small massage parlour called Les Family Spa Massage. Highly recommend this place if you want out of this world massage at a fraction of the cost of city massage parlours. I also want to point out the staff especially Ari who was super friendly and drove us around. He offered amazing tips and went above and beyond. Please remember to tip all staff because they work so hard for barely 8 dollars a day and ever little bit helps them immensely.

Was not crowded back then due to covid and travel restrictions. The stay was lovely, although food took forever to be served. Completely understandable considering the circumstances. Will definitely come again to check out how it is when everything is back to "normal". Thanks Villa Boreh Team. Great job.

The hotel itself is nice, the compound looks quite beautiful and the bungalows look really nice. But for me this was one of the hotels that definitely not everyone would enjoy. Larger rooms/bungalows don’t have walls but just curtains, so anyone can come in at any time to your room. Also, it can be quite challenging to sleep at night as there is no AC (the only AC was in one of the small rooms in the bungalow, where one of my boys slept). My other boy and I were together in the other room, with a fan that hardly worked, which made it impossible to sleep, plus we had ants crawling on the bed and geckos going wild with their sounds all night. We asked for another room with walls and AC for the rest of our stay, which the staff arranged, but this was a small room that barely fit 3 beds. There was an AC but it was so high up on the wall that, despite it being on constantly, we hardly felt any cool air at all. The hotel is also really far away from everything, so you can either stay there the whole time or have to arrange trips around. The hotel is probably perfect for yoga retreats or things like that. Not having proper air conditioning when it super hot outside is quite a big deal for me. Fixing the ACs in rooms and getting better fans in non-AC rooms is my suggestion.
