We stayed at Skamania Lodge for two nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The weather was great, the staff was very friendly, and their outdoor facilities are exceptional. However, they had a real problem, finding our reservation that we made through Agoda. It turned out that it was entered wrong, and the issue was attributed to our use of a “third-party booking.” The service at the restaurant was very slow for the two meals that we ate there, and the food was average at best. The fan in our room was oddly noisy; my husband said it sounded like the fan in a cheap hotel. They sent someone up to look at it. He said that the fans in this part of the hotel were old, needed to be replaced, and it would take some time to fix it. When it was time to check out, I didn’t receive the emailed final copy of the bill. I checked at the front desk, and it had been emailed to Agoda.?!? Again, this was attributed to the use of our “ third-party booking.” I gave them my email address a second time, but I still have not received the final summary. We have used Agoda for a long time, and it has always been fantastic. If you’re thinking about going to Skamania, I would be careful about how you make the reservation, and thoroughly check the room fan when you first arrive.

We had a change of plans and did a quick overnight - the staff was extremely welcoming and did a great job fixing up a room mix up. Definitely more of a resort destination than an overnight but we really enjoyed it. Downside is that it's crowded with lots of conferences and pretty expensive. Beautiful river view from our room and super comfortable accommodation.

I brought my 6-year-olds here for a weekend getaway in January. The weather wasn't very friendly for outdoor play but we had a great time and we all wished we had more time to spend. Highlights were the pool and indoor and outdoor hot tubs, the game room which had foosball and ping pong tables, board games, some lawn games and a wii. There was also a whole full-sized playground outside, fire pits for roasting marshmallows (bring your own supplies or buy a kit from the gift store inside). I had trouble finding information on any dining options besides the fancy Cascade Dining Room before I came, but they also have a more reasonably-priced casual restaurant there (think Red Robin) for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We're looking forward to returning in the summer so we can enjoy more outdoor time and mini golf.

This is no longer the relaxing spa retreat Skamania Lodge claims to be. Both the hot spa and sauna areas were chaotic, with children running around freely with a soccer ball being tossed around (Within both the pool and hot spas). The outdoor hot spa was listed as 18+ after 6 PM, but that rule was clearly not enforced during our stay. We also tried to participate in a scheduled stuffed-animal activity with 30 minutes still remaining, only for the attendant to check her watch and say she didn’t feel like running it anymore. That level of service was frustrating and unacceptable, especially for a property at this price point. A side note, which this could be just general environmental consciousness change, but we did not get daily housekeeping service. Im fine with this if it was communicated, but at no point was it made. Let me add though this does not extend to the restaurant or check in staff, both were fantastic and kept the old original vibe strongly. Given how great my visits here were a decade ago, this decline is incredibly disappointing. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend staying here in its current state unless significant improvements are made.
