This place was cost-effective

Desk clerk was extremely rude. We arrived earlier than expected, so we called ahead to see if our room was ready. We were told no and that they would text when it was. At 2:50 we decided to head over since check-in was for 3. We got to the desk, gave our name and got a very snarky “did you get a text?”. We said not but it was check-in time anyways so we came in. “It’s not even 3” at that moment it was 2:56. Then he said “check-in is 4, there is no guarantee that your room will be ready before that” I said our confirmation says check-in is 3. again with attitude “we are independently owned and our check in is 4 that’s why it’s posted” points to a sign on the wall. So I asked how are we supposed to know that if that’s the only place it’s posted? “We don’t control the booking website”. Minus the front desk interaction our stay was great. Room was clean and newly renovated, was very close to MetLife Stadium which we were going to that night. We would stay again but obviously wouldn’t be there before 4 next time.

Very good location, clean and large room (although paint peeling in the toilet (door handle)). Check-in, they meant to take a deposit of $50, but took the full amount, saying it will be refunded on departure. Unfortunately, it was not, as this was the payment for the hotel, even though I paid at agoda website (in £). This upset me, as I ended up having to pay in $ causing me to pay additional currency and bank fees. In addition, the room is for 3 people, but they had amenities for 1 person. This was rectified the next day. Not sure who is responsible for this error with the payment, but it seems a recurring issue with agoda (2 or 3rd time in less than 3 weeks- with promises and commitment but not adhering to that. Eg. price match - have official email from them, but then Agoda never credited the account, as they said they would). Ranking Agoda, I would give them 6 out of 10 - for service. Honesty and Integrity would 4.75 out of 10.
