Peaceful and royal stay ..perfect for rejuvenation. Excellent room.and food amidst nature

Great place for one or two days of pure R&R. Good for digital detox as there is no wifi and no cell coverage also :) Wonderful hospitality with courteous responsive service.

200 year old British property.. converted into hotel. This place is meant for relaxing, reading and eating . Away from main Bazar.. not for teenagers as there's no TV or room service. Caretakers are experienced and very helpful folks. Well made food is served in a royal dining room or verandah. For those who love to stay quietly..it's a perfect place. Charlotte lake and sunset point are just 5 min walk. Wifi is good but at specific points . Enjoyed the stay and old world charm.

If you're planning your stay away from city's hustle and away from work, you've found the right place. We had lovely family connection time. Note, network connection is weak but don't worry you can still make an emergency call if required by connecting to wifi from Managers office. There is no room service, TV, Wifi in rooms so you got less disturbance. This was communicated in advance to us so we were prepared to unwind ourselves close to nature and away from technology. The property is vintage property and takes you back to British raj. Rooms are well ventilated and it's true to its name- verandah in the forest. The electricity supply is uncertain and DG back up may take 5mins to restart. This can be improved. Staff is courteous and helpful. The property is near to Charlotte lake which is 30mins walk distance from Matheran Station.

This property is at an amazing location near Charlotte Lake. An ideal location for those who want complete peace away from city pollution. The colonial Mansion has its charm with most of the original furniture and fixtures in place. The Verandah itself is the place to spend most of your time. The ceiling height of rooms is over 20 feet . It is surrounded by dense evergreen forest. That keeps it cool in summer . No need for AC. The staff is courteous and helpful. They breakfast was excellent. Restaurant has a la carte menu which is diverse in terms of cuisine. We tried the diversity and found that some dishes particularly on continental menu are not all that great . It also appears a bit expensive in view of the portions . By and large the food is very good and considering the remote location and logistics difficulties one would not mind the prices. Negatives : The electrical switches and sockets in the room need replacement . The fan in our room rotated either at full tornado speed or was as good as still :) They could provide more hangers in wardrobe. There was just one in our room.
