My stay was in Luxury Suite. Please avoid at any cost! only if you want to ruin your vacation you may consider Welcomheritage Fernhills Royal Palace. Their main income is from film shooting activities that's why you will only see 1 or 2 rooms occupied by genuine travellers rest all rooms will be vacant. NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR THERE The film shooting crew will cover your car with an abrasive green net/cover to camouflage your car. All this was done without our permission and when we discovered our car, the paint was ruined. The hotel staff did not pay for our loss in any way nor did the film crew. Rooms: Rooms are shabbily maintained and hence be ready to find lizards 🦎 or frogs in your suite. As the doors are all old wood which never close firmly leaving slits for insects to crawl in. Even in 11°C temperature the hotel staff will not provide you with proper heating facility. So only 1 room heater (air blower) will be provided. We asked for an additional one, they did not oblige and neither provide even a hot water bag. Bathroom: FOUND A FROG IN BATHROOM. Found a frog in our Jacuzzi. So, please imagine the cleanliness. Jacuzzi was namesake as it was non-functional and unrepaired. Hot water is only provided during 6am to 10am and then later 6pm to 10pm. Rest of the time one needs to inform the staff 30 minutes in advance if hot water is needed. Horrible food. Dinner or Lunch when combined with package is offered on menu basis ( à la carte) which is a single page printout having only a few options. Elaborated menu is only presented when you agree to pay separately or you a vip (I suppose). Anyway, the food is horrible so it doesn't matter you order from whichsoever menu. SafetyNo lights around the palace are switched on. Garden is not visible after 6pm. There is no photoshooting possible after 6pm as the campus is pitch dark. Perhaps they are trying to save on electricity bill. So, I am not sure if dark campus can be considered safe. Food & drinksHorrible food. Noteworthy detailsRuined my stay in Ooty. The hotel staff and film crew spoiled my new car, scratched it with an abrasive car cover just to camouflage my car while the film shooting is happening. All of this happened without my concent. And no compensation was/is provided. Safety is an issue as the property is left dark just to save on electricity bill. Food is horrible. Bathrooms are not clean. Pest crawl into the rooms. Hotel staff is not courteous.

If you want to stay in a historical properly linked to the Mysore Royal family but don't mind that it hasn't been maintained as well as it should have been, go for it!! The property desperately needs better maintenance, the food is quite average, and there are limited entertainment options. The bar mentioned in the description is not operational anymore, there are few badly maintained bicycles which you can use to cycle around the property, and only one set of badminton racquets are available. The game room is as good as not operational. The hot water supply is not 24*7, there are no fans or air conditioner in the room so it may feel hot in the summers. Inspite of all this, the grounds on which the property is located is beautiful!! Walk in a forest of tall like trees, see bisons and boars and have a chill day just lazing around in the lush green surroundings.

The hotel is wonderful. The room was clean and spacious. The staff were very helpful and in full attendance. The Indian food at the restaurant is delicious.

Good experience

The property is very traditional and royal, though at many places it needs maintenance but still a place worth staying for getting that regal feeling. The food is good but has very limited choice. Rooms are very comfortable clean and cosy though lack good wifi. There are limited things for children recreation. Recommended for people who like traditional stays and have a flavour for regal.
