The hotel was very affordable and centrally located, which was definitely a plus. During my stay, there were some minor maintenance works taking place, mainly small repairs on the staircase, which caused a slight inconvenience but nothing major. I also have to say that although the staff was very friendly and helpful, part of the team did not speak English, which occasionally made communication a bit difficult. Unfortunately, the breakfast was quite limited. As far as I remember, there were no cold cuts such as ham, salami, cheeses or anything similar, and it mainly consisted of coffee and sweet pastries. Overall, it’s a budget-friendly and well-located hotel, but the limited breakfast slightly affected the overall experience.

The Hotel El Hayat is located on a square by the old French theatre close to the Batna city centre and its shops. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke some English. While the decor is a little dated and shows so wear and tear, I enjoyed my stay and was comfortable. My room was spacious and well-equipped, with south facing window and balcony. (Good on cold days. Plus there was a view of the storks' nest on the theatre!) The room had excellent heating. The bed was comfortable and sheets were very clean. Best selection of TV channels to date in Algeria. Bathroom and separate toilet had been modernised and were in good condition. Good hot shower. Room was well serviced everyday. Breakfast was OK: continental with Algerian cakes. Wifi was variable. OK when it worked but often it didn't. The area around the bathroom basin could have been cleaner - I think there was a minor leak somewhere. Good base for visiting Timgad, Madrascen and Lambaesis. Note: Have cash. I couldn't find an ATM that took Visa. The intercity bus and taxi stations (north and south) are a long walk (4+km?) but there are taxis (and local buses). I'd stay again, especially for the price.

The hotel was generally pleasant, the room was fairly average, and the reception staff were friendly, although not everyone spoke English. The breakfast could definitely be improved.

Do not waste my time for asking to write a review when you a bunch of illiterate even do not bothered to publish it. This hotel it's nice, clean and central but staffs English is very limited and it's making it difficult to communicate with them or get information
