Clean, cosy, well equiped kitchenette, very nicely updated and spacious bathroom. Quiet surroundings in part because many of the units were empty (off season) but it might have felt less pleasant and private if the other units had been in use. Staff was great-friendly and helpful-picked up us and brought us back to the flight check-in building. Easy walk into town and to various tourist destinations. If I had known more about Stewart Island and Oban, I might have tried harder to find a place with a water view. However, the peace and quiet was great, and so was the service.

peaceful stay on Stewart Island

Great stay
Lesley was at the ferry to collect us and our bags and take us to our accommodation which was so nice especially as we had a baby! A bit of a hill to get to the accommodation but usually if you are in Stewart Island you know you will be doing some walking. Accommodation was great and they had a travel cot and highchair in the room(on request)

Peaceful retreat with the birds
We had a good time at Kaka Retreat which is conveniently located in the back of Oban. There are three bedrooms that can accommodate 3 to 6 people. It was very clean but internet was patchy and tv was not working. All together still we had a pleasant and resting stay.

Exceptional
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is great, walking distance to town center. The unit has everything that we need, very thoughtful. We enjoyed our stay, and we will definitely recommend it to anyone who visits Stewart Island!

Great hosts and accommodation. Serene location, will come back if I am at Rakiura again
