We stay at the Franklin Inn several times a year. The price is right for a clean room close to several places on the coast we enjoy visiting that allows us to bring our little dog. Nothing fancy, just a clean place to sleep and bathe while visiting the coast. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

I had a clean room but the bathroom was moldy. Other than that, great staff, they have large ice machine and you can park directly in front of room. Also very close to Carrabelle beach and beautiful St George island

Don't do it. I know what you're thinking. It's a nice area, so it can't be that bad, right? We were driving along the coast and trying to save some money. Our expectations were modest; we don't need much, but no one should have to be in a place so downright depressing. At least we got to leave; we worry very much for the sweet lady they've got working there and hope that there is far better in store for her future, hopefully soon. I would have expected something like this from a ***, honestly, but not a quaint hotel in Carabelle. Do you know what I mean? Lesson learned. I also learned it is worth it to just spend an extra hundo on a room in a place that is functional and maybe has breakfast, just my advice. Even if you're broke. You ain't that broke. It seems like the Franklin Inn maybe renovated a decade ago and then just let the place fall apart. We had trouble checking in because the key reader on our room was broken. They were nice enough to move us, but whatever system they have for keeping track of reservations and clean/dirty rooms seems nebulous, so it took so long to sort out the room and get checked in that I had started silently browsing for another hotel to call and stay at instead. But they figured out where to put us. Based on other reviews, I probably wouldn't have gotten a refund if we had left, anyway. Again we had trouble with the key card reader; it didn't seem to consistently unlock the room. So we made sure not to go back out that night, to just stay in. The extra latch for the door was completely broken off, the one that you use to keep someone from keying into your hotel room. We're from Little Rock and know that most of the urban legends you hear about trafficking have actually happened to someone, so that made us feel super unsafe, honestly. A lot of folks would probably nope tf out of there, but we in our caucasity just created a decoy out of pillows in the bed next to the door, as a half-joke, thinking maybe an intruder would grab the dummy instead, and we would have time to wake up. Realistically we were just super tired and hoped to fall asleep quickly. The mattresses make this difficult, as every time your partner tosses, you will also bounce and be woken up. The large, conspicuous signage that the hotel is not responsible for lost or stolen items was especially comforting. Immediately we noticed the broken lampshade in the corner and just laughed it off. The wastebasket in the bathroom is broken too, which makes it not a cleanable surface. The sheets were clean, but I know they came from a laundry room out front that smells damp like mold. The floors and bathroom were thoroughly cleaned, but the inside of the microwave was dirty and there was what looked like fish blood in the freezer. What gets me is that this place could actually be fine, but it's not being looked after. I don't blame the workers, but what seems to be long-term disorganization and neglect.

Great location

Only stayed for one night. The staff were very friendly. Room was clean. Had no issues with anything. I would stay there again.
