Swiss Holiday Lodge

I have stayed at the Lodge many times since the hostel in Shasta closed and I didn't feel like camping (and in this area, I like that). But over the years, the number of pools and tubs at other Mt Shasta hotels have disappeared, but the Lodge has stayed open. The only problem with the Lodge is that it's older and it more remote from the center of town where the stores and restaurants are located. The management and the staff do the best they can. They deserve that credit.

We got this at last minute for New Year night, hence the price was above our expectation. Despite a small lodge, I can see they are trying their best. All basic amenities were there and clean and hot shower is fine. Not much to complain. The room is small for 5 of us, had a bit damp smell but still acceptable. It looks like owned by a family. Met the wife during checkin, the husband during breakfast, and the teenage son during checkout, lovely! The breakfast was set up as a make shift in the small lobby. Despite that, it had all the necessary, bread, tea, coffee, boiled eggs, fruit, milk, cereal. Note for those who allergic to dog: they have a dog, and guests are allowed to bring pets (except cat) with a fee. Location is 4 minutes drive to the town where there are a big supermarket that opens until 11pm and laundromat until 9pm. 10 mins drive to the Snowman Hill for sledding/tubing for public.

This family run motel is one of the cleanest we have stayed in while on our road trip. As well, the hot tub, pool, picnic area and relaxing in the hammocks hanging in the trees are all pluses. Breakfast is plentiful and free. What more do you need?
