We spent four nights at Hotel Cherno More in early July and overall had an enjoyable stay. Although a few shortcomings prevented me from giving it five stars, the hotel has a lot to offer. The location is outstanding and probably the hotel’s greatest asset. It is right next to Varna’s pedestrian zone, only about a five-minute walk from the beach, with numerous restaurants and cafés all around. A 24-hour convenience store (Магазин “Шипка” Триста) is about a seven-minute walk away, while Carrefour Market can be reached in around ten minutes. We felt perfectly safe throughout our stay. Another highlight is the hotel’s renovation. The public areas are beautifully modernised, stylish and far more impressive than we expected. From our Standard Twin Room on the 13th floor we enjoyed fantastic views over the port, the city centre and the beautiful Dormition of the Mother of God Cathedral. Breakfast exceeded our expectations. There was an excellent selection of savoury food, while the choice of sweet pastries was more limited. One feature I especially appreciated was the dedicated machine for decaffeinated coffee, allowing guests to prepare drinks such as espresso, cappuccino or latte. The hotel’s café on the ground floor is also well worth a visit, although it was a little surprising that the cake names were displayed only in Cyrillic while the rest of the menu was also available in Latin script. The room itself matched the official photographs but was narrower than expected. The beds were quite firm, which suited me well, although they are fairly narrow for a twin room, and the blackout curtains did not completely block the morning light. The balcony was another disappointment. Rather than having a fully private balcony, our Standard Room shared one with the neighbouring room, separated only by a divider up to the height of the railing. This made it easy to see into the neighbouring part of the balcony and, if the balcony door was open, even into the neighbouring room. The next balcony was also only a short distance away, so overall there was virtually no sense of privacy. The balcony itself was also quite small, with the air-conditioning unit taking up part of the space, making it suitable mainly for stepping outside for a cigarette rather than actually sitting and relaxing. There were also a few maintenance issues. The shower drain had an incorrect slope, making water drain slowly. We occasionally noticed a sewage odour coming from the bathroom drain, and on our final evening the air conditioning also started producing an unpleasant smell. During our four-night stay our bed linen was not changed. The weakest aspect of the hotel was undoubtedly the service. Our check-in was surprisingly cold—we were not greeted, and apart from being told where breakfast was served and at what time, there was virtually no conversation. Throughout the stay, most employees barely acknowledged guests. Thankfully, there were two memorable exceptions. Plamena, who worked in the breakfast restaurant, greeted guests with a smile, while Violeta handled our check-out professionally and warmly, providing exactly the level of service we would expect from a hotel of this category. One interesting detail is the gym. Before travelling I couldn’t find any photos of it online, so I’ve uploaded several to help future guests. I was also surprised that such a relatively small fitness centre is open to non-residents. It is also a pity that the former rooftop restaurant is no longer accessible. The lift doesn’t serve that floor anymore, and from the outside the upper part of the building looks neglected, which is in stark contrast to the beautifully renovated public areas below. Despite these shortcomings, we genuinely enjoyed our stay. We visit Varna almost every year, and Hotel Cherno More will definitely be one of our first choices again on our next trip.

The hotel was in renovation, basically there was no hotel lobby. Breakfast was adequate,;the views from the rooftop restaurants were amazing. The staff was professional and helpful. Having a parking in the hotel was a plus, however the space in front of the hotel was not adequate for a quick parking to check in and unload cars. I recommend allowing for more adequate space for that purpose during the renovation.

The hotel's strongest asset is its location - in the heart of the city, meters away from the sea garden and the beach. The hotel is old and is currently undergoing renovations. The room we stayed in was new, well furnished and clean, with a large, comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom with everything you need. The terrace offers a panoramic view of the sea and the city, but I missed chairs where you can sit and enjoy the fantastic view. The restaurant evokes memories from the comunist times and needs a major renovation. The breakfast was rich and delicious, and the staff was friendly and skilled. They charge you 20 BGN extra per day for parking. Overall, our stay at the hotel was pleasant and we would chose it again.

The woman info-desk worker's attitude was rude.^^ I felt like I was a worker there. I hope that fake blonde worker get "attitude train" correctly.

Only negative was fact that they allow smokers in all rooms and as always the residual smell. Apart from that everything else was excellent
