It was clean staff were friendly breakfast hit and miss enjoyed our stay food over priced for what you get

Well I have travel a lot all over scotland england ireland europe and the rest of the world stayed in castles bnb hostels 5 star hotels !! The Golf hotel is lovely old property maybe just needs a little update touch up of paint here and there, the glass is very scratched in room ***. Check was great I was asked if I was eating at the restaurant but at that point I wasn't sure of my plans hence just arrived after a 3 hour drive. Checked the room I needed a hair dryer there was none, so I went down to reception i was planning to have a shower after i checked the area out,very nice views and great parking though I will say that at this point. I went about my business and dropping back into the hotel no hair dryer delivery on popping back into the hotel 3 times still no hair dryer. I decided to have dinner at the hotel so after the 3rd enquiry I asked the staff what time it starts from and was informed that it was not decided yet !! I did notice there was a large group being catered for at that time. I asked 4 times about the hair dryer then eventually the manager informed me at around 7pm ish there was no hair dryer and do i have to wash my hair. I was compensated with a free pot of earl grey tea. Not a problem I can use a towel to dry it. Later thinking about the kitchen not knowing about dinner I decided to just go to the local takeaway. Arrival back to the hotel I tried the shower it was not working only a trickle so I ran the bath and found water not hot enough for a bath and it would take for ever to fill up. Old pluming system of the building needs to be upgraded. Breakfast - I was told to choose a clean table if there was none it would be cleaned. I took a step inside the breakfast room and thought bloody hell. All the tables were full of half eaten plates of food glasses and cups, I choose a semi clean table well there was no plates of half eaten food left on it bit can't say it was clear of food either, the staff member brushed the left over crumbs off with her hand and not all of them . I have eaten some pretty bad breakfasts over the years during my travels and i can honestly say the sausages were amazing but as stated on the menu two sausages with a full breakfast i got one. The bacon was raw so i informed the staff i could not eat this bacon as it was raw and can i have it cooked because it s raw. Plate of food taken away 1st time arrives back bacon still not cooked so a 2nd request then a 3rd request to have the bacon cooked the staff at this point turned very very rude throwing the extra butter down on the table where I sat, I was given butter from a table from the laxt guest which had left half eaten plates of food (not my fault the bacon was not cooked and had to ask 3 times ) i am sure if raw bacon was served to her she would do the same. As I had seen the remains of another guest breakfast and the scramblled egg did not look good so I chose poached egg. This was nice. Mushrooms great !! Black pudding very dry and being scottish i'm used to eating stornoway so this was a let down.(might be a bit spoilt here)Toast was cheap bread cold when i got it. I noticed others guest had toast that was not even toasted. Plate of food came back stone cold bacon still not cooked properly. Left this hotel feeling very disappointed. All in all for £*** a night I would be expecting at least a hot shower !!!

Just returned from a weekend at the golf hotel, it is lovely and clean, staff are very friendly, rooms are big and spacious, breakfast is good with good selection. Dinner at night was excellent would recommend, although we never had the Sunday carvery it looked absolutely amazing we are definitely going to try it on our next stay. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel was very basic, more akin to a cheap guest house than a hotel costing *** per night.Minimum staff making minimum effort.Very dated hotel which makes the most of having no alternative accommodation in the town..Avoid if possible

The room is clean and tidy Although there is some issue on the bathroom shower, they fit up efficiently. The hotel's breakfast is great. It is located need the park which is good to have a walk around. It will be a little bit noisy in room when there are full of guests at the restaurant at night. But it will not last for too long.
