Marina Hotel

No towels. Not hoovered or polished very tacky room. The smell in the room wasnt to bad but we had a candle on but the hallways smelt like wet dog. Had two single beds put together one side was broken.

I found the website for this hotel on google as I was looking to have a short break on the Isle of Wight. I looked at the pictures and it looked like the ideal hotel for our break. when we arrived on Sunday 3rd May 2026 I was first disapointed with the lack of parking as the pics on the website showed parking at the front of the hotel. I was advised by staff to park around the corner at a pay and display car park. When a member of staff checked us in and gave us the code for our room I was informed that the bar and the food stalls outside(they occupied obviously what used to be the parking area) would now be closed until Thursday 7th May, the day after we left. The pics on the website also showed a lovely dining area too, which on arrival was not as the pics showed(it was just a couple of bench tables and a pool table. We made our way up the stairs to our `DELUXE` sea view room which on first look was a nice room. On closer inspection it was not what I would consider a deluxe room i any way shape or form! The matress was old and so well used that when I sat on it there was no `bounce` at all, it seemed like all the springs were not at all springy. The pillows were so thin that we had to put towels and the cushions that were on the bed under the pillows to make it a little better. We asked staff downstairs if we could have a couple more each as they were so thin, they assured us they would be brought to our room but they never appeared. After this first day as the bar was shut we saw no staff again to ask for the pillows again so had to make do with the DIY pillows we had made with the available towels. Also the light in the bathroom had a cluster light with 3 bulbs in it. One was working properly, one didn`t work at all and one flickered in time to the motor in the extractor fan. The toilet seat was also loose which made it almost impossible to use and there were no staff to tell about it. The other thing that was not what I expected was the fact that there were no power points next to the bed, I have a CPAP machine to help me breathe when asleep as i have sleep aponea. Luckily I always take an extension lead with me in case. Even so my 3m extension lead had to be draped across the door at the handle height. The carpet was badly stained in many places and the room was not cleaned over our entire stay as the bin was never emptied. On closer inspection of the website I have discovered that most of the pictures on the website are 4 or 5 years old! The website is in dire need of updating as it is not just misleading but a downright lie!!! I payed *** for our 3 night stay and to be perfectly honest I would have been annoyed if I had payed half that! To be honest I think I deserve a full refund as the website is just false advertising!
