Overall we enjoyed a pleasant two night stay here. The staff, food, location all good. Just one drawback for us…room #4 which overlooks the roof of the kitchen. Rather warm when we arrived and no A/C in the rooms so we wanted to open our windows to cool off. Directly under the windows were four large exhaust fans. So be forewarned. If it’s warm when you arrive and you are assigned room #4 and you want to cool it down by opening the only windows in the room you will not only hear the noise—breakfast, lunch and dinner—as the fans do their work but will also smell what’s cooking in the kitchen. We were provided a fan for the room which helped but it did not solve the problem. We’d still recommend this hotel, just not room #4.

Glad we booked this hotel, staff lovely , breakfast very good indeed, peaceful location with short walk into pretty Ludlow. One little criticism (sorry) is that bed pillows were flat and tired and really need replacing, but the lady was really helpful and let me have two extra - I’m very pillow conscious since surgery on my upper spine. Had evening dinner first night which was tasty and well presented and served with a smile from receptionist Lauren (I think ? ) Sorry if I got your name wrong. I’ve already recommended The Cliffe to our friends

We stayed in a lovely large room. The hotel is situated about a 10 minute walk from the castle and town centre, albeit quite an uphill walk for part of the way. We had some great meals and would particularly recommend the bream, lamb and fish & chips. There is also an outside terrace area, ideal for catching the last of the evening sun. The staff were all friendly and efficient.
