Stay early Feb 2025 major reconstruction going on

The hotel, the lobby, the room and the restaurants were fine. We had to do a one night stay over because our flight was canceled due to snow. So we found this hotel on Agoda. I am not one to usually complain if everything is satisfactory. However, we arrived at the hotel a little frazzled because our flight was canceled. When we checked in, the girl informed us that the complementary breakfast that was advertised on Agoda was not going to be honored. I showed her the reservation and I showed her where it said free breakfast. And she grudgingly gave us a voucher, but I felt like she did not want to do that because I had to show her twice that it was included. Then we went to our room and we received a room with two double beds and the room was right on the first floor, it was the first room next to a side door easily accessible to the outside. I did not feel comfortable there so we went back to the front desk and we told her that we had requested a larger bed and a room on a higher floor, which I had put in the notes of the confirmation with Agoda. She said she could not do that for us and then I showed her again the reservation where I had written that. She did subsequently, after me requesting it two times and her telling me that she could not do that. She then did put us on a third floor room with a king size bed that we had originally requested, but it seemed as if it was a problem and a nuisance. I am always polite and respectful, and I don’t feel like I received the same from her or from any of the staff there. We went to breakfast with our free voucher and it was restaurant style. It wasn’t a buffet, which is fine. but there was only one item on the menu that they would offer with a voucher. All the other entrées were about the same, but we were only able to have one basic breakfast. The breakfast was very good. I just don’t understand the selection of one breakfast entrée. If you don’t eat bacon and eggs, you’re pretty much out of luck. So just a heads up to those travelers that unless you speak up, you may not receive the complementary items. when we questioned the waitress about it, we were met with a raised Voice and told that was the way it was, and did we still want breakfast Listed on Agoda, unless you are assertive with the front desk and have documented proof over all the hotel was great and it’s a shame that my interactions with the staff were negative..

Felt very upscale and safe. Only thing our room lacked was a microwave - we had left over steak from a restaurant we weren’t able to heat later for a snack.

Marriott Reservations is inaccurate and has NO IDEA of each individual Marriott hotel inventory of rooms. Marriott Reservations has terrible communications with third party vendors. Third party vendors have no way to communicate with each hotel directly. The whole set up is inefficient and false. Do not trust them. Furthermore Marriott is skimping and doesn’t reservationists at each site! What crap.
