The hotel was exactly what we were a looking for - a traditionally grand English manor, with modern interior, thanks to interior designer Dorothee Meilichzon. The menu options at the dining room were excellent. Our room was stylishly designed, with custom designed rattan chairs, lacquer furnishings, and interesting and clever touches of wall finishings, and counter top materials (albeit a little under-maintained; the wardrobe doors could not close properly; housekeeping did not change bathrobes/towels even though we indicated for a change; a stack of towels were left forgotten on our bed) The rooms were well heated; in fact so well heated that it got a tad stuffy. Fortunately, standing fans were provided in the rooms. Also, our room did not have a desk; just a small platform under the TV, where we had to pull up a chair to sit and write our letters & postcards.... However, the ravishing and well maintained manor grounds made up for these shortcomings.

My daughter, who is in her thirties and myself, aged 71 decided we needed a treat, a nights stay together somewhere luxurious; Cowley Manor was the perfect place! The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive, the facilities were exceptional, especially the two swimming pools, inside and out. Being both artists / designers we enjoyed the stylish decor of the lounge / bar and appreciated the beautiful historic building and its grounds. Our evening meal was delicious as was the generous breakfast. I would easily return to Cowley Manor, I highly recommend it.

Very nice place, the room, spa and dinner were the highlights. The cooked breakfast is good but probably has some room to be better. We’ll be back!

Definitely best hotel I’ve ever stayed at.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a really bad experience. This morning, while washing my hair, the water suddenly shut off halfway through. With soap all over my body and hair, I called the reception for assistance. They suggested I walk to the public bath at the swimming pool. To get to the swimming pool, I would have to navigate through the public areas of the hotel lounge and lobby before heading outside. This was followed by five-minute walk through the outdoor car park and pathways. Given the cold weather and my wet hair and bathrobe, walking through the hotel’s public areas and then outside was simply not comfortable. It would have been quite embarrassing to appear in a bathrobe and soaped hair in front of other guests. I expressed my concerns to the staff, but to my dismay, they simply repeated that there was nothing they could do. In the end, I resorted to using ice-cold water in the basin to rinse some soap from my hair and waited for the water to return. After not hearing from the reception about the progress of the repair work, I called again to ask for an estimated time for the service to be restored. It was disappointing to find that the hotel does not provide updates unless guests specifically request them. They finally mentioned it might be late afternoon, but once again, there was no apology or effort to assist me further. Frustrated and unwilling to waste any more time, I decided to just dry off. To my astonishment, I then received a call from reception—not to provide an update on the water issue, but to inform me that I needed to check out. The lack of professionalism, lack of effort to resolve this issue, and basic courtesy throughout this ordeal was astounding and incredibly rude.
