올드 스톤 인 부티크 호텔

I stayed at this historic boutique hotel (part of which used to be an old stone mill) and had an adequate stay there for one night. My check-in experience went okay and all of my requests were met. However, I did have to pay a facility fee of just over twenty dollars (in Canadian funds) and because I had wanted to stay in a room located in the older historic side of the building, I had to pay another thirty-five dollars (in Canadian funds). This was perhaps due to my having booked my reservation online with a third party booking site and the extra fees or add-on charges were not part of that. That is most probably the only grievance that I have against this establishment apart from there being no continental or hot breakfast buffet being offered in the morning, which is a bit of a pity given the fact that a lot of other hotels in the same area do offer that service to their guests or even include it as part of their accommodation. The bed's mattress that I had slept on was also a bit too firm or hard for my liking and so I wasn't really able to get a good night's sleep but overall the room I was staying in was satisfactory to my own liking. I had a room with a nice view of the indoor swimming pool area and there also was a Nespresso coffee machine in the room as well but no tea bags to make tea with, which again was something I had expected only to find out it was not offered to me. Overall, the bathroom in my room was good and the use of a bathtub with a shower inside was also a plus. My room was clean and spotless as well. I would likely stay at this hotel again if I ever require another overnight stay in Niagara Falls sometime in the future. On a scale of one to ten, I would probably give it a rating between seven and eight.

Rooms were clean , staff was very friendly. We loved the beautifully decorated patio . Very cute spot .

We found our room rather shabby. There was a duvet on the bed but 2 sheets were used to cover it, top and bottom. No duvet cover! The second day we were there we put the sign out for the room to be cleaned. We arrived back at midnight to discover no one had been in to clean or make the bed and the towels were still wet from our morning showers so we weren’t able to shower then. We didn’t find anything in the room or lobby letting us know about the facilities or restaurant which wasn’t open for dinner on the 2 nights we were there. We found no information on the city we were in or the points of interest. They are marketing this as a boutique hotel, and the lobby looked beautiful, but it seemed to stop there. There were no drawers in which to put our clothes, there were about 4 hangers on which to hang things but the rest had to stay in the suitcase. In the bathroom there were hooks on the back of the door, for wet towels I assume, but it they needed a towel bar near the tub not 10 ft away. Overall I thought it wasn’t very well cleaned and certainly the layout didn’t work.

Firstly the room we had was semi outside and had a musty smell. The inside looked like it was recently renovated but still smelled like mold. Secondly, when we first arrived they also informed us there would be extra charges of about 17 per night but we didn’t get that information before arriving to the concierge. Thirdly, we paid and parked at their EV charger that night, with the staff unlocking it for us. We asked if we needed to move the car after it was charged and they said no. Around 11:30/12am we got a notification from our car that there was unusual activity. My husband had to go downstairs to see what was going on and found that another electric car was parked next to us (and the spot was not a parking spot). And the electricity was unplugged for our car and plugged into their’s. No one was around. So my husband was concerned and went to the concierge to ask them if we needed to call the police or anything. The concierge said he had just taken over the shift and would call the previous colleague. They found out that the colleague unplugged our car, with the adapter still in the car, without our consent. And he said that ghe other car said they just needed it charged into 1am. My husband was furious that they didn’t just call us to ask us which we probably would have been fine with but to just do it and leave the adapter so the chamber couldn’t close there it would not be good if it started raining etc. It was infuriating, but my husband knew that the staff didn’t have a part in it and just said around 1 am he would go back down to plug it in himself as he didn’t want them to touch the car or plug for our personal car any further. He came back and had to set an alarm to go downstairs to do this. We went to talk to the staff the next morning and they said that the manager was on a call and would call us back when we are on the road. We said we didn’t need anything just wanted to make sure the manager knew that the staff had done this and it was not okay, and hope that it doesn’t happen again. They said they would inform the manager and he would call us back. We paid for our parking, and extra fees for the night. We left and I never received a call from the manager after. It was truly a horrible experience here at the Old Stone Inn based on the above especially the third point.
