When I booked the room via Agoda there was a checkbox to request a large double bed rather than twin and, unusually, to request a non-smoking room (surely these days all are non-smoking). I subsequently found a contact number for the hotel, which was a mobile only. The man I spoke to seemed a little vague but he assured me that the double bed request would be arranged. The hotel itself is an impressive building and all staff we met were helpful and friendly. We arrived late in the evening and were disappointed to see twin beds in our room but, as we were exhausted, we did not ask for a change. The room was clean and in good condition, although the water pressure in the bath was weak and not at all hot. At breakfast the following morning we could select what we wanted from a buffet. There was however not much food put out (bread, bacon, sausages) and we had to wait for some items to be replenished. An argument between another guest and a member of staff started when they were told that no more sausages were available. This wasn’t a busy period and we were surprised at the obvious ‘rationing’ of some items. Overall the hotel was a nice enough place to stay but some logistical elements were clearly not in place.

For the price I paid including breakfast it was "ok", although if I'd have paid for it as an extra I would have been dissapointed. The hotel and rooms were clean and tidy, the staff were good and to be fair the room was better than when I stayed here a couple of years ago. Renovations are just finishing so the view out of my window wasn't great but once everything is completed I'm sure that will improve.

Characterful hotel with a long history in Felixstowe. Rooms can be a little hit and miss with regards to the level and progress of modernisation. Nice bar and restaurant and ample parking, also close to the train station and three quarter miles from the main shopping area and seafront.

Refreshing alternative to the new hotels on the block. Good value for money. Clean spacious room. Really nice ornate ground floor reception, bar & dining areas. Great location opposite train station and Felixstowe high street.

We had a lovely large twin room with bigger than usual bathroom, the shower was roomy. Check in was good also bus stop right outside and sainsbury over the road. We dined in the restaurant lunchtime it was very good and reasonably priced. The bar is well stocked and the cool breeze was very welcome. We enjoyed our 1nt stay and the beds were comfy after our evening swim 🙂
