FairBridge Inn Express Barrington

My wife and I were in town for a wedding. We had procrastinated booking a room and ended up with this as the only option. Upon arrival I was informed that I had accidentally booked two rooms. The owner told me that I would need to contact agoda to get my refund for the second room. He then gave me the key to room 223. My wife and I went upstairs to check it out before unpacking our stuff just in case. Good thing. There was black mold in the shower and on the ceiling above the toilet. I went back down to the office and told the owner that we would not be staying in that room due to the mold. I asked for the key to the second room which he then informed me he had already sold, even though I had already paid for it and not yet been refunded. We then left the location entirely and called agoda. We were refunded for the room that we were never able to use. We asked for a refund on 223 due to it being usafe to stay in due to the mold. Agoda called the location and the owner lied and said we were there in the room for 30 minutes so he was only willing to offer a partial refund. Stay away from this establishment. I understand a certain amount of “get what you pay for” but this case was extreme. We will be contacting the local health department to report our findings and hopefully prevent people from getting sick.

3 star reviews are fake. Place hasn't been updated since it was built and is falling apart. Room smelled like an ashtray, cigarette burns and stains in carpet. Booked online, which unfortunately was non refundable. Didn't stay and went to find another place.
