I travelled to Guimaraes for university and while I was looking for long term accommodation, I booked 3 nights at Guimaraes Living Hostel & Adventure. The hostel owner Joana made planning for my trip so easy. Gave me clear instructions on how to find the hostel when my flight arrived late. She is very responsive, very helpful (even helped me carry my heavy luggage) she & very hospitable! The location is central but quiet. Breakfast is filling and the atmosphere of the hostel is warm and welcoming. Had it not for my long term accommodation, I would have stayed longer with this hostel. I would definitely recommend to family and friends visiting Guimaraes.

Stayed for 9 nights. It was over-all a good stay. Facilities were great. They change the sheets and towels every 3 days. Downside for me is that you’d have to walk for about 7-8 minutes to the nearest grocery store. No other stores nearby wherein you can get your essentials. 7-8 minutes don’t really sound far but going back to the hostel is the challenge especially if you’re not used to walking uphill roads. If you’re carrying a ton of groceries with you, be ready for a mini work-out. Another thing, the wifi in my room was pretty weak. You basically don’t get connection unless you’re near the room’s door. The wifi signal is concentrated in the common areas which are on the ground floor. If you want good connection you’d have to hang out in the common areas for that. Lastly, the floors are wooden and the doors are made of thin plywood. Every time I move or other guests move, you’d hear pretty much everything. If you’re a light sleeper, this might become a problem. But other than that, everything was pretty good!
