The location is perfect, right in the old town but a long block from the main action so the hotel itself is quiet. The hotel is beautiful, that courtyard is a journey back in time that we couldn't get tired of looking at. We had a really pretty room with a gorgeous view to that courtyard and it was delightful to wake up every morning and taking a look at that courtyard bathed by the morning light. The shower was great and the bed was extraordinarily comfortable. The staff were really friendly and helpful and provided a good breakfast. That said, we need to mention that our room was too noisy. We could literally listen to every word and every move our neighbors said and did, so basically we had to go to bed and wake up whenever they did, because it was impossible for to start and continue sleeping with all that noise. And our neighbors weren't too loud, i guess the walls are too thin. I guess it's something you can expect when you go to a hotel that was previously a big house, like this case appears to be. It was a real pity because we loved the hotel otherwise, but that was quite detrimental for us, not to choose when to go to sleep and when to wake up. Just have that in mind and maybe ask if you can get a room without this situation if you mind the noise like us, because otherwise, the hotel is very much recommendable.

The location is perfect for a first visit to Dali right in the heart of the charming Old Town, with restaurants and shops just a 2–3 minute walk away. Despite being so central, the hotel is tucked away on a quiet street, so the rooms are peaceful. The building is old but full of character and well maintained. Everything was very clean, and the staff were warm, friendly, and welcoming. The only downside is the sound insulation. Since it’s a historic building, you can clearly hear footsteps from the room above, so if you’re a light sleeper, I recommend requesting a room on the top floor. One suggestion for improvement is the travel advice provided by the hotel. A staff member kindly helped me book my Cangshan Mountain ticket, but some important details were missing. I was encouraged to go all the way to the summit without being told that it would be much colder, often very foggy with limited views, and at a much higher altitude with noticeably thinner air. I also wasn’t told that I needed to enter a specific cable car station in Didi searching for “Cangshan Mountain” takes you to the main entrance, about 12 km from where my ticket was booked, which made my trip unnecessarily stressful. The staff member was genuinely kind and trying to help, but I recommend doing your own research before taking her advice and recommendations.

Location was right in the middle of the Dali ancient town where all the actions are (shops, restaurants, bars) but tucked away in a little alley so very peaceful at night. Location is next to a school however so does not suit someone who wants to sleep in but not an issue for early risers. Being an old building, sound insulation was non existent so you can hear your neighbours quite clearly. There was no air cond but I booked knowing that, and was not a problem as my stay was during autumn period so quite cool inside the room (fan provided). Room Amenities was complete and overall good level of cleanliness. To nitpick, maybe the floor could be mopped better as it felt abit dusty. Overall a very satisfactory stay and the receptionists were very polite and helpful.

The inn is inside the Dali Ancient Town, very convenient. Interesting old architecture inside. Staff are friendly and helpful, and they prepare a nice and simple breakfast. Only negative thing is the bed is too soft, very uncomfortable. Plus the toilet is small, no door, bathroom floor will get wet after showers. The toilet should be totally renovated.

We stayed for two nights during October. The hotel is conveniently located to the old town, and is safe to walk to and from at night. Since we rented two rooms, one above the other, the person in the bottom room can hear footsteps from the room above, and even listen to conversations. We found it difficult to find since Google maps was not helpful. Maybe, search for Dali Catholic Church, the entrance to Old Courtyard is about 30m further on than the entrance to the Catholic church. The entrance to Old Courtyard was not well marked, and can be missed. Otherwise, a good hotel to stay in.
