Hotel Villas Rio Mar

It was pretty far from Liberia it said about 5.5 hours drive from where we were staying in samara but it took about 7. I wouldn’t recommend coming down this way if your on holidays. It wasn’t worth the drive.

Loved the setting of this hotel in landscaped gardens and the feeling of being in the forest. Lots of resident iguanas basking in the sun and even spotted Coati’s, toucans and lots of other birds. Lovely pool with plenty of loungers/chairs with options for sun or shade. Good buffet breakfast which rotates over 2 days. Our kids very much enjoyed the free pool table in the bar area. Nice little trail through the forest at the back of the hotel too. Only negatives are wifi wasn’t great in our room (412 near the back) but strong by pool/restaurant. Also, our room was totally shaded which meant we didn’t really spend time hanging out on the lovely spacious veranda and not easy to dry our swimwear. A simple great addition to each room would be a clothes dryer rack which we could have put in sunshine. The track down to the hotel is very rough and bumpy so you need to go slow but it’s not too far. An easy 10 mins walk into the centre which we did most nights for dinner.
