The Belfry Hotel & Resort

Stayed on a weekend. A busy hotel due to golfing club and spa on site. Great for groups into golfing or those that want to have a spa weekend. We booked because they have a pool but the pool was smaller than the pictures implied and when I went to use it early Sat afternoon it was very busy with groups of women enjoying the loungers, Spa and whirlpool facilities. Not a pool for swimming lengths in. All staff we encountered were friendly and smiling, from the cleaning lady to the staff on reception and the waiting staff in the dining room. Our room was clean with comfortable bed, but I found the pillows too soft. Tea/coffee and complimentary bottled water was present. Great breakfast, cooked full English to yoghourt, fruit , continental style. The main bar area was large nicely laid out but on Friday night they had a live band during the late evening which livened the bar area but was too loud to be able to sit after dinner and enjoy a drink and conversation with our guests. Maybe having an alternative quite bar area for guests not wanting a loud bar would be lovely. The Rider Grill restaurant is very busy so book well ahead. The only table they had was at 8:45pm which we booked online a few days before our arrival but they managed to shift us to an earlier time of 8:15 once we had checked in and we had a chat to the restaurant staff on the night. The service was great and the meal good. For group and family get-togethers or christening / wedding parties great hotel but not if you're looking for a quite romantic couples getaway.

Well located but quiet at night, ideal for conferences, good for golf, gym and relaxing. Staff are excellent, rooms are well appointed, although there was no A/C in the block stayed in There was also refurbishment going on so they are keeping it fresh! Food was good too. They don’t clean your room unless you request it apparently, which is not usual, wasn’t explained and they didn’t mention an environmental benefit to that - but on arrival the room was very clean so it wasn’t a major issue just a lack of communication. Overall I would recommend for conferences or leisure but it is in a rural location so don’t expect a short walk anywhere other than the onsite bars and restaurants!!

We stayed to celebrate my brother in laws birthday. The room was very warm as there was no air conditioning. Breakfast was very good, buffet evening meal not so good , on our second night I had a fillet steak which was lovely The spa was adequate but pool on the small side. If you are not a golfer there are better hotels for the price.

Great facilities especially the Spa. If you are a golfer you must come here.

We stayed in a disabled room and managed to have a flood each morning in the bathroom due to the wet room floor being wrongly inclined. It was only completed two weeks ago! And the lighting in the room is hopeless - had to use window sill to balance mirror to comb hair etc. The hotel costs are exorbitant - £110 for 2 burgers, two starters, 3 glasses of wine and one soft drink. Staff helpful but limited information upon arrival.
