Virginia Guesthouse Hotel

By the time I got to my room, I decided I never want to stay here again. The room itself had a lot of positives, but the hotel had lost me before I got there. When you pull up to the hotel, there are signs warning you not to park there or risk being towed. Not a friendly welcome. Once you go in, I learned there was no hotel parking, and there was a $15/night charge. Later, I did see that this is mentioned in a FAQ, but come on. A hotel that bills itself as luxurious needs to make it immediately clear that there is no onsite parking, not hide the information in a FAQ. And the length of time it takes to register your car is unacceptable. Surely there can be a way to transfer the relevant information from the hotel booking. The garage is next to the hotel, but it is a hike to get back to the hotel, especially when lugging baggage. And signage is terrible. Surely the hotel could have less threatening verbiage in the loading/unloading area—signs that say simply that the area is for those purposes only. And the receptionist should encourage guests to drop off luggage to save the long and poorly signed walk back from the parking garage. By the time I got to my room, it did not matter what my experience was going to be like on the other side of the door. Without the fiasco of my check-in experience and parking, it would have been very positive. But I had already decided I’m not staying here again.
