Dumbleton Hall

We got married here 20 ago, so this was an anniversary visit. The. Place has been amazing spruced up and is delightful. 2 small caveats. They didn’t have enough staff for the breakfast service which resulted in it taking nearly 90 minutes to get our breakfast and items were forgotten. The other being don’t book through a third party (such as Agoda). At the time I booked it was the cheapest option but it would have been considerably cheaper to book direct the night before. The staff did say that if booking direct there would have been an option to refund the difference but not if booked through 3rd parties. At the high price I think you possibly always have a option to book late.

A regal property in a stunning location. Staff were helpful and friendly. Not much to do, but very relaxing. The food was excellent.

Brilliant friendly staff and lovely surroundings make this place a great place to stay. Had a lovely few days here and would stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is very imposing and has a very rich history. We loved strolling around the delightful gardens. The rooms are comfortable and all staff seemed friendly and efficient. The restaurant good was first class and reasonably priced. Definitely recommended!

Dumbleton Hall is a typical country house hotel in as much as it does need some investment to bring it up to modern standards. But maybe modernising too much would ruin it's charm? For anyone who is 'picky' then they'll probably find things to mention. Some modernisation is planned for the reception, bar and restaurant later this year according to images displayed in the foyer. It is situated in beautiful parkland and it's just so calm and quiet. Views from bedrooms are beautiful and there are some very nice walks in the grounds. Our bedroom was a bit 'tired' but it was clean and very good value for the price we paid. The bathroom was small but adequate for a two night stay. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The view across to the lake, cricket club and sheep field was very pleasant. Breakfast was included and was very good with a help yourself buffet of fruit, cold meat, cheese, cereals etc and a hot breakfast was ordered from an extensive menu. We ate in the restaurant on both evenings and found the food to be very good. There is a daily 'specials' menu plus the main menu which has 'pub classics' such as fish and chips and burgers and the main menu with a good selection of meat and fish dishes. The restaurant was full on both evenings. Overall the hotel delivers on price and location but the stars of the show are the staff. All of them! Without exception they could not have been nicer, more efficient, friendly or knowledgeable. The management should be proud of them. Would we stay here again? Absolutely.
