Lyon House Hotel

We booked a double room in this hotel in Barking. The location is fab with the tube/railway station and buses within a 2 min walk away. The room itself was basic, double bed, which was comfortable, decent working shower, fridge, large fan in room and it was reasonably clean throughout. However, there were quite a few maintenance issues with holes in walls, plug sockets near the ceiling (very weird and made us laugh), just lacked alot of finishing touches. TV remote had batteries in which appeared to have exploded. Little dressing table looked like it was going to fall apart. Only one pillow per person. The main issue we found overall was lack of sleep. At approx 1.30am there was an awful lot of noise directly above us, sounded like furniture being moved around. This went on for hours on and off and became incredibly annoying and made us exhausted for the next day. Considering you stay in a hotel to sleep, it was extremely disappointing that we were unable to do this fully. If it hadn't been for the late night noises I would have recommend this hotel as somewhere cheap to stay whilst in London for one or two nights.
