Blue A Modern Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Do not pay any attention to previous bad reviews from years ago. I am writing this review as of 09/28/2025 for Blue, A Modern Hotel, and it is NOT the same hotel. In fact, it’s a brand new building built behind the old dumpy place, which looks like it’s condemned and in process of being torn down. Now let’s talk about Blue. The lobby is beautiful with three fancy Keurig coffee machines - you have many choices to brew. The staff is INCREDIBLY hospitable and helpful. My daughter sprained her ankle and was on crutches. They happily changed my reservation to a handicap accessible room. They gave us goodie bags with water, chips and cookies! The breakfast is continental, but warm and fresh. We had fruit filled croissants one morning and cinnamon rolls on another. Now the rooms - OMG! The beds are so comfy with fluffy comforters, there is a Keurig to brew in your room, a microwave and mini fridge (the kind that holds 6 cans), a massage chair (THIS was wonderful), two bathrobes, two sets of slippers, and the most amazing shower with lovely lavender and ylang ylang soaps and hand/body lotion. Bathroom was stocked with plenty of towels and everything was so clean. We came to visit my oldest daughter at college for the weekend, and seriously didn’t want to leave the hotel at all. We will stay here again!!

My boyfriend & I booked 2 nights at The Blue but booked it 1 night at a time. They charge $150 hold on your card each time you book because it's a new hotel. So a *** hold plus over *** for the 2 nights was Alot & it took about 5 days to get back the 1st hold & it's been at least 12 days & have not gotten back the other. There was no problem w our hotel room so it's based on your credit cards bank when you'll get it back. But 1st impressions walking in the Lobby is absolutely Beautiful! The chandeliers were stunning, lots of comfy seating & tables, 3 coffee machines to be used 24/7, apples & oranges always out, lemon water & mints out as well. There is a pool table in the lobby and a well packed hotel store to purchase items from. You are checked in with a welcome gift per guest. There is no breakfast besides some muffins or croissants. They switch it up. But they were very good. The coffee is amazing from the machines. No pool & no laundry facilities. Everything in the hotel was of course new & extremely clean. Very impressed with the cleanliness.. We had a corner King Bedroom. The bed was the most comfiest bed I've slept on at any hotel. Felt like I was on a cloud. There was a massage chair which felt so good, had many settings. Fell asleep in that a couple times...lol Huge TV that extends from the wall & turns. The bathroom was very clean & was sooo nice. Lots of counter space & the shower was like getting another massage... Each room has robes & slippers which was so cozy to have there. The cons: the refrigerator was EXTREMELY TINY. I could only fit a couple drinks in it. It was the size of a skin care frig. Was upset because I bought items that needed to be in the frig & couldn't fit any of the food I bought. So some we are right away & the rest got wasted. So upset about that. Also the shower was very slippery & had no handles to grab on to. I could imagine this being nerve racking for some older folks. It was for my boyfriend because he broke his arm & had surgery recently & he was afraid of slipping & falling. No grip on the shower floor either. An last our room was a little small. Not much area to walk around. Very tight even w just 2 people. Overall, we enjoyed our stay & would stay again.

Besides not offering breakfast. This is my new favorite hotel
