The Hideout

Visiting from overseas, we had big plan to van camp for the summer holiday break. The weather had other plans. It was a last minute scramble to find a nice place to stay during the busiest time of the year with limited options. Then the Hideout popped up onto the accommodations map of available places during Christmas. Wow! What a place. Everything seemed new and spotless with all the accessories needed to make you feel right at home. But even better was the beautiful tranquil surroundings. There’s lots of nature around the property and even a short hike to a stream with little waterfall. With all the different birds we saw while staying at the Hideout, we downloaded the Bird Nerd app to learn more about each species. Mangawhai’s beaches, hikes, surf spots and town center are not a far drive which adds to the convenience of the Hideout’s location but also removes you away from everything! The nights were so quiet that we can’t recall ever experiencing such a peaceful silence. Four thumbs up on the Hideout. A treasure for those seeking a getaway with tranquility, immaculate cleanliness, and all around excellence.

After the hoards of summer beach goers on our trip up to the Bay of Islands it was such a sweet retreat to have only the serene sound of birds and grazing sheep and bubbling water. Only 10 mins from Mangawhai market and yet you feel like you are in a remote location. No sight of neighbours and able to lie in bed with the porch bed open. Beautiful, new and stylish. This is my kind of getaway.

Nice quiet getaway to unplug and chill. Only issue was internet was patchy (probably due to weather) but worked out well as we had no distractions
