First off, the location is cool. A partly restored and modernized Ksar, with original ruin Ksar attached. Tastefully appointed, clean and gorgeous at night. Very odd to find dinosaurs placed around the site. Quite hokey and out of place, I must say. Really takes away from the mystique. My room was nice, large with a sitting area. Bathroom was functional. Shower never seemed to get hot. The AC/Heating unit in the room worked well. Someone set it for 30C when I arrived and it was sweltering. Changed it to AC mode and it came down pretty quickly with the door also opened. It was only I and one other couple that night in the hotel. As such, the hotel restaurant wasn’t open. It was pretty quiet, until around 5 AM when I was woken up by some Arabic music (not the call to prayer) that lasted at least a half an hour. That was sleep I really could have used, but never got.

This place has all the potential qualities to make it amazing … interiors are traditional and beautiful. Architecture and setting beautiful. But not offering dinner when there is no restaurants nearby is crazy. After a long day of travel we were told they could offer no food as we hadn’t informed them 24 hours in advance. Also their cafe - whilst it’s beautiful, doesn’t stock anything on their menu!. There’s also no vibe or evening entertainment. We were expecting traditional live music or board games for guests etc. Small things like new fluffy towels, a nice shower curtain and clean blankets in the cafe would make this along with my other comments just perfect.

If you’re going to do it, stay in a Kasr! This place is amazing. Atmospheric doesn’t do it justice. We were on our own here - very special.

The location is both great and unique—an old Ksar converted into a small hotel, surrounded by the main attractions in southern Tunisia. We understood we were booking a remote desert location and weren't expecting luxury, just a clean and comfortable place, that’s all we wanted. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Upon arrival, we had to kill about 20 huge mosquitoes, the bedsheets were in bad condition, and the floors were quite dirty. Furthermore, the price of this hotel is much higher than other accommodations in the same area, which made the lack of basic standards even more disappointing. The check-in process was also a struggle; the reception couldn't find our reservation and wanted us to pay again, despite the fact that we had already paid online two weeks prior. The only positive note was the restaurant and the staff working there, nothing bad to say about them.
