The Hotel is nice and clean. very close (almost walking Distance from the Velana International Airport). Hotel location is vert good they even have a private beach & a backwater Area merging with the ocean which allows you to enjoy a short swim /snorkel experience in the ocean as well within the property without having to go anywhere else. The Swimming Pool was nice clean n decent sized with a separate baby pool as well. We booked a Suite, Although the view was great however from Suite perspective the room was not as per expectations. Could have been better appointed. for e.g. very little tea/ coffee options. cutlery/ glass/cup (Although they did provide but we had to ask for.) Bathroom was dated in design but clean. For a shower the Tub is high & can be a little discomforting especially for Elderly to get in & out as its slippery so be careful. There are 3 restaurants in this property. Over all Food spread was okay however FOOD for Indians can be a concern. Especially if you a Vegetarian & This is True not only for this hotel but overall Maldives. As 5 Days the Breakfast had the same Buffet spread Breakfast lunch and dinner with very little variation in the Menu options. Even The spread of Fresh Fruits was repetitive. Musk & honey Melons only. Only on day 1 they had pineapple & Watermelons. which was quite surprising & disappointing as being a Tropical destination Fruits is the bare minimum that is expected. Indian food is not there at all part from a 1 selection of Dal/ Chana/ aloo Jeera with rice. some non veg options are there in Gravy however Don't expect great taste. Kadai Paneer was not good at all however Murg Tikka Masala was good. The Burger was good. Don't expect wheat Chapati/ Roti . Only All purpose Flour breads (Maida ) is used. Like I mentioned The Food Factor for Indians can be a small concern as we Have tried in several places. We went to Kurumba Island Resort as well Great Lavish spread but taste for Indian palate is missing. Even the KFC at The Departure Gate had bland and no taste compared to the Indian KFC No salt forget spices. so keep that in mind. Even the continental & Chinese Food was average in taste not good for great. For the Staff here at Hulhule was friendly but promptness in service can surely be improved especially in the Restaurant & Room service and housekeeping, Nowhere close to the Indian 4/5 star services. But Feedback given to them was executed well by the seniors & managers. Having said that overall it was Good Value for the money paid. The Scenic beauty and natural surroundings make it up for all the small little cons. Choose the Suites on 3rd floors 301-302 for Great Ocean View from the suites.

We flew into Male late in the evening so stayed here before flying out to an island resort. Rooms are spacious, quite dated but did the trick. Pretty good buffet breakfast and pool but mainly good as its so close to airport and they have shuttles going back and forth. Fast check in and helpful staff.

Hulhule Island Hotel does the job. If you arrive in Male too late to catch a seaplane/boat to your resort (or have an early flight from Male), Hulhule Island Hotel is a comfortable enough place to stay and much easier to get to than anywhere else in Male. They will coordinate with your resort and seaplane company to ensure a smooth transfer. Everyone was very friendly and they proactively organised a take away breakfast for us because we needed to leave before the breakfast service started. Just don't be under any illusion that this hotel is a nice resort like on the islands, it's an airport hotel good for single night stays while in transit. Also, be sure to confirm the shuttle pick up point at the terminal and wait for the bus - the point is not marked at all and doesn't look like a bus stop.

The HIH used to be a very smart, classy venue for tourists and expats to enjoy on holidays/days off. The most outstanding feature was the staff whom over the years (since 2006) I have met,, got to know; and even today, we meet up like old friends. They remember things about me and I recall things about them - their private lives and their families. Sadly, the HIH - for me - has gone downhill. I am paying a huge amount to stay in a room with a dirty looking shower floor; a low functioning fridge - I just want to keep bottled water in there; I am shocked to fine a piece of soap in the bathrom basin: no person who can afford at HIH wants to see bits of soap to use. I feel the HIH needs a guest specialist in guest satisfaction. The bar staff, etc, are more than perfect yet I feel the hotel big-wigs are not taking notice of the things they need to change in terms of staff and details such as pieces of soap. Thank you. Jane Shannahan When I first came to Male/Maldives in 2019 I fell in love with HIH. But all these years later, it has to compete with hotels on Male and I think that HIH has not kept up. Especially when they still have the most outstanding staff I have ever met: eg, Khalid , Thoha, Zahir, Athif, etc.
