Overall great stay: clean and comfy room, responsive and lovely staff. We also had our own bathroom, which is rare with these budget hostels in Iceland. However, we never got any check-in info before arriving. And while the pictures show this nice blue house with the rainbow entrance, you are actually staying in the dilapidated looking red building on the left. As two women traveling alone, that was not a nice moment: scary building, no info how to enter or check in. We walked over for the much nicer blue hotel next door and it turns out it is the same company and they helped us. The red building inside is lovely, comfy, modern and clean. But god that was a scary moment, that could have been avoided with some simple signage, and maybe a blue pain job on that old building.

While the outside of the building is a bit under done, the interior and our room were comfortable and well presented. We were pleased with the amenities available in the kitchenette, which was fine for heating a pre cooked dinner and preparing a basic breakfast, and had a comfortable dining table and chairs. Hotel staff (the Hotel post is an adjunct to the next door hotel) were friendly and helpful, and responded quickly when I went to find coffee supply at breakfast time. Others have posted more cautious comments but we thought that for Iceland this was good value. Our room was spacious and clean. The kitchenette was super clean and well supplied with cups, plates and some cooking items. It would not work well for cooking and preparing dinner for large numbers, but it is very suitable for reheating etc. The amenities of the hotel next year - bar, lounge area, dining room were all available if you wish to access them.

No reception or staff. Self check-in, door code was stuck on wall with your name on it. No lift, need to take your luggage up stairs. Shower drain was clogged and no other drain in the toilet. After one shower, the water was up to ankles, almost overflowed into the bedroom, impossible for another person to go shower. No staff to ask for help. We tried to unclog the drain and cleaned out a lot of hair, but still didn't work! The hair dryer was not functioning, it made a loud noise without any airflow, was extremely hot and with burning smell. Flies inside toilet. Has a common kitchen. More like a hostel than hotel
