The Unmad

I really wanted to love my stay at Unmad, Dharamkot, because the property has so much going for it. The views are absolutely beautiful, and the five lovable resident dogs completely stole our hearts. There is an undeniable charm and a lot of potential here, which is why it makes me a bit sad to write about the areas where the experience fell short. Unfortunately, our stay was dampened by a noticeable lack of maintenance and upkeep: Room Comfort & Cleanliness: The bedding we were provided with had holes in the sheets and torn blankets. Furthermore, basic housekeeping seemed overlooked; our used wrappers and dirty coffee mugs were left uncleaned in our staying area for two days, and we were initially handed dirty cups for our morning coffee. Cafeteria: The food at the cafeteria unfortunately didn't hit the mark and could definitely use some improvement in quality and flavor. Safety Concerns: We also experienced an unsettling situation one night when we heard persistent knocking on our door. When we raised this concern, it was unfortunately dismissed as us "imagining things," which felt invalidating and left us feeling quite unsafe. It is clear that Unmad has the capacity to be an incredible, magical getaway in Dharamkot. However, until management prioritizes basic cleanliness, hospitality, and guest safety concerns, it’s hard to fully enjoy what the property has to offer. I truly hope they make these necessary adjustments, as the place deserves to be at its best.

We had a really nice stay, thanks to Krishna and his great staff. They were so kind and helpful! The spot is beautiful and the view from the room is amazing! Note that it is located 8-10 minutes walking distance from the main road, and you need to climb the stairs. We didn’t really mind because we are fit and also we like that it wasn’t in the heart of the “city center” cause we wanted the quiet and tranquility. It is really peaceful and feels like being inside nature

The Unmad is not just a place to sleep but also a place to meet other travellers and make friends. I had a wonderful few days there and was sorry to leave. I ate all my meals in the common indoor/outdoor area - the food was great. There are some steps to climb but the views from the Unmad are fantastic. The ambience is tranquil, the owners are lovely and the four dogs are friendly. I loved The Unmad.

Very tasty food, nice location, helpful staff, manager very friendly. Only issue was with the parking which is possibly under construction; roads are in general narrow and winding in this part of the town and one needs to have a suitable driver. Persons with knee problems, like my wife, may have some difficulty, as the hotel is a few steps up the hill.

It is located in the top of hill and nice view from the hotel. But for elderly people like me it was very difficult to reach in the room. Overall experience was good.
