Recently renovated, charming small hotel property met my traveling partner's and my needs quite nicely. We booked two separate but adjacent rooms on the upper level of the small two-story building that contains 12 units, 6 upstairs and 6 downstairs. (More units exist in one-story buildings.) Rooms are small and the king size bed occupies most of the floor space, but the windows are operable, and the doors are Dutch style, allowing the top half to be open to allow view and sounds of the shore to carry into the room. There's even a Dutch style door at the rear of the room, and the window in the bathroom is also operable, supporting a cross-breeze through the room. Rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable. Highway and rail traffic does affect enjoyment of the ocean sounds. Earplugs were kindly provided in the room, although I chose not to wear them, and tolerate the occasional loud motorcycle or freight train, in favor hearing the waves washing gently on the shore. Short walk to the Orange County Transit Bus #91 and also the Dana Point Trolley which we used to get to and from San Juan Capistrano's Amtrak station served by Pacific Surfliner and other parts of town. Will definitely stay here again.

Nicely located across the beach. Ideal for a stroll on the beach at sunset. Beautiful decor. Very cozy for couples. The train sounds from the track across the street can be loud (truly the only down side). I didn’t hear it while I was sleeping at night. I wish they would change the sheets and got us new towels every day. But I didn’t ask either. Over all a great little gem.

Avoid this property if customer service matters to you. The customer service attendant was exceptionally rude, dismissive, and completely unwilling to help. Rather than addressing guest concerns, he repeatedly shuffled people into a waiting room and essentially refused to provide meaningful assistance. Communication was virtually nonexistent, wait times were excessive, and guests were left guessing about what was happening and what their options were. What should have been a straightforward issue turned into a major problem because of his attitude and unwillingness to work with us. Instead of offering solutions, he created obstacles, ultimately leaving us scrambling to secure alternative accommodations at the last minute. Travel plans are stressful enough without being treated as an inconvenience by the very person responsible for helping guests. Problems happen in hospitality. What is inexcusable is indifference, poor communication, and a complete lack of customer care. This was one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I’ve had, and it reflects very poorly on the property.
