Shamrock Hotel Kyneton

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Shared bathroom and toilet were very clean. Bedroom was basic and adequate, slept well. You do have to climb stairs to accommodation.

I stayed here as a solo traveler in May 2025 and found the Shamrock Hotel Kyneton to be a convenient and character-filled choice. The location is excellent—right in the heart of town, making it easy to explore local cafés, shops, and historic sites. The staff were welcoming and check-in was smooth. That said, the facilities could use some attention. The twin room was clean and comfortable enough for a short stay, but amenities felt a little dated compared to other regional hotels. Wi-Fi was patchy at times, and while the basics were covered, there weren’t many extras to make the experience feel exceptional. Overall, it’s a solid option if you’re after a central base with old-world charm, but travelers looking for modern comforts may find it a bit underwhelming.

The room was simply but well set out-a complimentary water bottle and a chocolate added a homely touch. The bed was comfortable and it was a great deal for the price . There were no facilities like fridge or jug etc. to make a hot drink but I was aware of this. The shared bathroom and toilet ( containing two showers and two toilets ) was clean and artistically modernised. Heating in the room was marvellous and the noise from the pub down below was not too disturbing. The staff were definitely Irish and friendly. A great experience!

I was there for one night. I got shocked when I saw that room. There was nothing except a bed, not even a bin. I will never ever visit that hotel again. It was a nightmare.

Loved the style of this renovated accommodation. Hadn't done the shared bathroom thing for a while, but it really works well in this type of place.
