Etna Quota Mille is a beautifully constructed facility with lovely grounds, pool and dining areas. It does however have a couple of design issues that are problematic. The Junior Suites with the bedroom in a loft having only one operable window in the gable end of the loft. Other than that the only operable fenestration are the first floor glass doors that open from the living area to a public path. The space also lacks any kind of ceiling fan. Combine this with mini-split air conditioners that either aren't working or simply won't blow cold air, and you end up with some very uncomfortable temperatures in the sleeping area. It is odd that these otherwise lovely rooms lack a second window to allow a cross breeze. Our stay was during temperate weather so our discomfort was not extreme. In the heat of summer these rooms would be incredibly uncomfortable. The other odd thing about the property is that the neither the beautiful pool, nor its smaller plunge counterpart are heated. While beautiful and well cared for (staff wipe the dew off of the lounge chairs each morning), absolutely no one staying at the hotel dipped even a single toe in during our stay as the pool was freezing cold. Other than that, and as said before, it is a beautiful hotel. The restaurant is lovely and the food and service there excellent. If they would simply heat at least one of the pools and get the A/C working in the rooms, this would be a 5 star review.
