I stayed at the Quarrymans Rest and was pleasantly surprised! The staff made an exception and allowed me an early check-in and recommended an excellent place to get a coffee. Unfortunately I had to leave before breakfast but I can definitely say the bed was extremely comfortable, the room was quiet and it was great for sleeping!

A charming old town pub, no frills but traditional bar, excellent breakfast. A welcoming warm , quiet bedroom.

With nowhere to eat in town (only available place was fully booked the landlord microwaved our meals for us we bought at a local store. Really good service

Booked Quarrymans Rest for a wedding due to proximity to the church and reception venue. Landlord (Richard) is welcoming and accommodating, early checkin request from 4pm (instead of 6pm) was granted with no issues. The room is above the pub, handy for my husband to have a few pints, then just stagger upstairs. We were in main part of the spacious family room, with a living area and dressing table. The big bathroom has a big bath and separate shower cubicle. There is a small car park 1 minute walk down the hill. Breakfast is included with choice of cold or cooked breakfast. The cooked breakfast was just perfect. The pub doesn't serve food so we had dinner at Spelt down the road, which was divine. Thank you Richard for a very pleasant stay, with extra bonus of Denzil the cat at the bar. We would definitely return next time we are in the area.

Host not welcoming and indifferent to us. A very old rambling building that could do with some tender loving care. Breakfast room was depressing and very basic. Luckily we had a small car so could navigate the very tight entrance to the car park.
