A step back in time to a backpackers which is located right in the centre of town and close to the beach. Looks like this place is no longer the place where the kitchen was crowded by young backpackers staying in dorms. It is a little more sedate now but the kitchen is still there, the common rooms still there but no public computers as everyone have their own lap tops or mobile. Amanda the check in staff was helpful. Our room was clean with fresh sheets. The shared toilet facilities are, as expected, old but still functioning! Lots of good restaurants near the 'backpackers'. Woollies is within walking distance if you are still keen on cooking your own dinner,

Good Value for money

For a backpackers experience it was very good except first morning shower as it took at least 10 minutes for the hot water to come through so landed up having a cold shower by the time to shave it was getting warmer

It just the room has no ventilation. Dry and hot. Ceiling fan helps, but temperature control must open the balcony door. Everything else is amazing. Shower is clean, it just be ready to carry your luggage through stairs

This place has a beautiful old-world charm – artistically, it's truly a gem. The traditional heritage vibe makes it a lovely spot for travellers who want to soak in the character of the town. However, as someone who had been on the road all day in winter, I did find the lack of heating and the somewhat unreliable hot water a bit challenging. After a long drive, a warm bath and a cosy room are exactly what you need, and unfortunately this place fell a little short on that front. So I'd say it really depends on your travel purpose. If you have plenty of time to slow down and explore the town at leisure, I'd highly recommend it for its unique atmosphere. But if you're a road-tripper covering long distances and need a comfortable, warm retreat at the end of the day, this might not be the best fit. Still, it's a good place overall – just choose wisely based on your needs.
