The Pros: Unbeatable Location: Situated right in the heart of Montecito, the hotel is within easy walking distance to fantastic local brunch spots, coffee shops, and boutiques. Historic Charm & Amenities: Built originally by Charlie Chaplin, the property oozes classic Hollywood history. The pool and hot tub area, while on the smaller side, is picturesque, private, and relaxing. Exceptional Service: Every single member of the valet and front desk staff was top-notch—welcoming, professional, and attentive throughout our stay. Thoughtful Touches: Having convenient access to coffee and water in the hotel was a nice touch. The Cons: Rooms Showing Age: While generally clean and comfortable, the guest rooms are definitely starting to show signs of age and could use a refresh. Disappointing Morning Offering: The morning setup only includes basic pastries. For a historic hotel of this caliber, you expect a more robust breakfast option. Undeclared Resort Fees: This is the biggest drawback. The hotel charges a mandatory $42 + tax per day guest amenities fee (which does at least include both valet and self-parking), but Agoda.com completely failed to disclose this fee anywhere on their website or at the time of booking. Discovering an unexpected daily fee at check-in leaves a sour taste and makes the initial Agoda price look artificially lower than it actually is when comparing with other booking websites. If you book here, factor that extra daily fee into your budget, or consider booking directly or through platforms that are transparent about resort charges upfront.

Splendid experience. Hotel was quaint, vintage, and modern all at the same time. Room and bathroom was clean and well-kept. Gym had very new and modern equipment. Towels and water was available. My only complaint was a potential safety issue with the elevator. It has a vintage accordion style gate that springs shut that slammed into me as I was trying to exit holding bags. Pushing it back and open is a pinching hazard because the accordion can collapse on your fingers.

I booked on Agoda and price quote didn't have any details on service charge which was over $40/nt. extra
