Staff were great. Breakfast was terrific with loads of choices and generous portions.. Unfortunately the first room we were shown had distinct ‘plumbing smells’ and a bath panel that was broken. We were given another room where the shower heat control and bath plug were broken. No where to hang clothes, not even a hook on the back of a door. Generally needed some maintenance.

Positives: - Large room - Beautifully decorated - Huge comfy bed - Roll top bath was a novelty and nice to relax in such a deep tub. - Nice Scottish Fine Soaps toiletries provided. - Overall seemed to have a good level of cleanliness. - GHD hair straighteners and hairdryer provided. - Lovely breakfast - i chose the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on toast, served by a lovely waiter. - Tasty cakes available. I took some home with me. The stem ginger cake was delicious! Areas for improvement: - Bedroom was COLD. Radiator did not appear to have any controls to turn it up or even on. No carpet in there either so made it feel cold under foot but I appreciate it's an old building with original floorboards plus you can't really have carpet with a bath in the room. Still, the room temperature was an issue and I slept in my fleece pyjamas, slipper socks and my jumper too it was so cold. - Although beautifully decorated in terms of wallpaper and pretty bedside lamps, the woodwork/ paintwork did look a bit knocked about in places. - Nowhere in the bedroom at all to plug in phone / ipad etc to charge. -Very strange as I usually have it all plugged in on the bedside/ in the same room at least. I could plug all my tech in beside the kettle in the wardrobe/ tea and coffee station area outside the bedroom but nowhere in the actual bedroom. - Big TV but couldn't get it to work which was a shame as i imagined a nice relaxing bath watching it - no channels installed and I tried to manually install it myself on both regional tv and via the sky box but no signal available to get any channels? - Room was above the kitchen i presume as the fans underneath were on 24/7 - could hear them all night even with ear plugs in! - 5am presumably staff arrive for work for the morning shift - outside light came on and woke me up as the curtains aren't flush to the window and the light is bright. - black mould around the shower sealant. Not pleasant looking but I only used the metal freestanding bath anyway but it did make me question cleanliness/ maintenance... - Not much choice of hot drinks to make in the room. Could do with some other things like decaf tea/ hot chocolate/ peppermint tea sachets. I only had breakfast tea bags and what I think was coffee powder in a kilner jar. Not sure - no label. - The UHT milk really didn't taste nice in tea although I appreciated the glass bottle it was in compared to the usual little plastic pots. - Orange juice at breakfast was not nice. Really acidic schwepps mixer stuff i think. I prefer proper OJ with bits in, or better still - freshly squeezed! Although it wasn't the restful night's sleep i needed and the room didn't meet my expectations, i did enjoy my relaxing bath, the yummy cake and my breakfast.

The Sun Inn offered a fantastic stay. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The location was convenient, and the rooms were spacious, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep. The facilities were top-notch, and the cleanliness was well-maintained throughout our visit. Overall, it was a great experience.

Staff and food were very good indeed but the building needs some attention, the public areas are scruffy and the room needed a fair bit of TLC, overall though we went for a few drinks and some food and added a cheap room so we would go again but don’t expect too much if it is just b&b you book

meals where very good. Staff great. Location good. Guest rooms could do with a refurb. But if I'm passing through the area will always make it my first choice.
