It's was a clean well run independent hotel, with reasonable facilities and good value for money in a good location. Parking was on a first come basis (think there was also a charge) so as we checked in late at night we had to park on the street but found a free parking spot as most are pay and display. We had 2 rooms and one only had plug socket around the desk point so that was a juggle with chargers, hair straightener, fans etc. more plug socket would be an improvement

Great by two lovely girls at reception on check in which was an easy and pleasant experience. Was not easy to find the room, many twists and turns and steps to negotiate on the way to room, up and down steps which was not easy with a suitcase and other bags. Stayed for 2 nights, even though I put the make up room card on the door, the room got semi made up, ie cups were rinsed and bins emptied but the bed was not made. Not sure why this was, seemed strange it was not done. We just slept here and for that it was not bad. The cups for tea and coffee were very small also.

Our suite was beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. The building is old and the windows need upgrading but may be subject to local planning. The location was perfect with buses only a short walk away. The quality of the breakfast was average. I requested a larger bed as it was an option on the booking form and found we were given a suite at no extra cost with a most luxurious bath. We were on the main entrance side of the building which is a quiet one way street.

I was impressed by the welcome, the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms, the lovely setting and the general ambience. However I was disappointed, as a vegan, with the breakfast - no substitutes for the cooked breakfast apart from a vegan sausage - would have appreciated e.g. some avocado and tomatoes rather than extra hash browns - also would have liked muesli but it had dairy in it, and no vegan spread for the toast - a basic staple in most places these days, and a strange omission as at least there was almond milk. The staff member in the restaurant was very apologetic and said she would pass it on to management, as did the receptionist on my way out. I had been assured on the phone prior to my stay that the hotel could cater for me so that increased my frustration. So to sum up, I'd recommend the hotel to omnivores, but not vegans unless they breakfast elsewhere!

In Sheffield to do some work. Rutland offered a good rate and was well located for where we needed to be. The main down side is that the decor throughout is very dated and tired. Our double bed was hard up against a wall so getting in and out was a test of gymnastic ability. That said, the price was fine, we found on-street parking to save costs, staff were very good and breakfast was filling, tasty and very good value. We’d stay again - the accommodation suited our needs.
