Had a lovely room at the front with a balcony. Lovely hotel, nice staff, good breakfast. Hotel and grounds very attractive. Plenty of parking and a 15 minute walk to Windermere or a fees mins to the bus stop. Good size swimming pool, only criticism here was showers were pool side not in the changing rooms. Only issue we had was the dogs, they were everywhere! I love dogs but firstly I’m allergic to them and secondly don’t agree that they should be allowed everywhere, including one being carried around the breakfast buffet and then sat on its owners knee at the table. Several also barked constantly, one at 5 am 2 mornings running. Other than this lovely hotel and great stay.

My wife and I stayed for one night here on Tuesday 19th march it is set in delightful surroundings with beautiful gardens and trees. We arrived early so decided to park up and walk across the road and down a track to the lakeside from here we walked approximately a mile almost to Bowness and back it was such a beautiful tranquil walk through nature. We decided that we will bring our 6 year old grandson later in the year he will love a picnic and a walk along this lake. We went back checked in and were given the keys to a lovely room in the annexe approx 100 yards from the main hotel. This was on the first floor with a view looking through the trees at a beautiful church and the lake the room was very clean large with a superb large en-suite with the usual tv and coffee/tea tray with also a lavazza coffee machine and pods plus a couple of chunky Kit Kats which was a nice touch. We decided to take a swim in the pool which was free to guests and also towels were provided although there were no lockers to place clothes in and no benches in the two cubicles to place clothes etc while changing so I would wear the bear minimum and maybe take a bag to put clothes in. Unfortunately I had a headache so we decided to stay and have an evening meal in the restaurant so booked a table for 7.30, we were10 minutes early so got drinks from the bar and waited for our table. The menu wasn’t great but I opted for the beer battered cod with peas and chips and my wife ordered the beef and mince pie this is when things went downhill we waited 50 minutes to be served the couple next to us said they had been waiting about 25 minutes for their desserts and said that a blind lady who was at our table had given up and walked out . There was this lovely young waitress called Lauren who was most pleasant who couldn’t apologise enough and tried to hurry our food along she did seem to get it from a few diners but she handled the situation very well as it was out of her hands we all thought that she was amazing and that if she was in charge things would have been a lot better. When my fish came I couldn’t believe it was one of those that you get out of a packet from a freezer nothing like I expected it was a bit grey and under cooked probably in a microwave the peas weren’t much better. We informed Lauren that it was inedible and she told the manager who deducted it from our bill. My wife said her pie was ok but nothing special . The couple next to us had been before but said if they came in future they wouldn’t use the restaurant. It’s such a shame because it’s beautiful hotel and the large drawing room and bar areas are gorgeous to sit a d have a drink and the large grounds are beautiful. The breakfasts were excellent all you could want cooked self self service, cereals fruit coffee tea toast really very good. So to sum up yes we will stay here again it’s a fantastic location and rooms with the pool etc but we will definitely not be eating in the restaurant if it hadn’t been for my headache we would normally find a nice local restaurant. We all agreed Lauren is wasted here she would be an amazing person to have working in your hotel we actually tipped her because we were so impressed with her so I would recommend the owners sort out the restaurant issues as recommendations are everything.

We really enjoyed our stay at Windermere Manor. The location is perfect — peaceful, yet close enough to easily explore everything around Windermere. Parking was convenient and stress-free. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing night’s rest. There were a few dead flies by the window when we arrived, but apart from that, it was clean, cozy, and welcoming. We didn’t get a chance to use the pool, but it looked well maintained and a good size — something we’d definitely try next time. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. Overall, a pleasant experience in a great location with kind staff and good value for money. We’d happily return!

Had a night free and this place ticked the boxes. Nice quiet location, dog friendly and a pool. Lovely staff and for the money it was good. Would definitely return.

Generally really pleased with stay. Building is lovely and staff are excellent. Very good breakfast. Only fault was room 17 where we stayed not very sound proofed from room 18
