Chay Lap Farmstay is a charming cottage-style stay set in the stunning Phong Nha valley, with absolutely breathtaking views. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, which added to the relaxed atmosphere. While the on-site food wasn’t the strongest part of the experience, the nearby town made it easy to find great local meals. This is a wonderful place to stay if you’re planning adventure activities in Phong Nha and want to be surrounded by nature. Just be aware that it’s a tropical area, so bugs are very much part of the experience.

Considering this was the most expensive place I stayed in Vietnam I think I expected more. I wanted somewhere resort style to finish my trip and this place was nice but ended up being a lot further out from Phong Nha than I expected. Great if you're a family but as a solo traveller was quite inconvenient. Though I rented a scooted from nearby which made all the difference. The staff were friendly enough, though not bend over backwards or overly helpful when it came to booking tours and local restaurant recommendations. I feel the whole place could do with a bit of a face lift. A few bits of rubbish in the grounds and in the pool on arrival. I stayed in the Mountain view room though the design of the windows meant I actually had no view? Ants in the room and my room also wasnt made up during the days until I asked if it could be. All small things but just accumulated a bit of frustration. If you want an escape and to spend time at your accommodation with a pool and kayaking, this is great. If you want to be close to Phong Nha with the town and restaurants, its 30 minutes away

I booked a mountain view room with not much expectation as we visited Quang Binh during cold and wet weather. However the experience turned out amazing. The view was spectacular. We had a lovely afternoon tea at our room balcony. Clean and friendly enviromental facility. The only issue is it's a bit far from Dong Hoi city and Phong Nha so taxi was quite hard to find and bit expensive. It was however a perfect place for our get away. We had a tour runned by Oxalis so we were transfered from Chay Lap to the meeting point without extra charge. Highly recommend

The hotel is in a lovely peaceful place and the staff are very, very helpful. The only downside of being in a peaceful location is that it is a 30 minute drive to the main town (Phong Nha) and the hotel charges roughly 350k VND to arrange a car. You can arrange a taxi / grab to take you back to the hotel from Phong Nha for about 180k VND, but taxis/grab will not do pick up from hotel.
