We've stayed at The Eaton Oak several times now, and we were a little disappointed this time. The room was actually a bit more soundproof than before; a great improvement. But the bed was just not comfortable this time. I kept feeling like I had to brace myself not to slide off the edge, and my partner was bracing not to roll to the middle! We both tried to determine why this was happening, but nothing was obvious. It was also warm in the room, with no way to adjust the temperature, except for a small fan we found in the wardrobe. We stayed on a Sunday night, so we went down for a roast dinner. The server was very pleasant and attentive, but we didn't enjoy the roast. One of us had chicken, and the other had pork - but both were overdone, and quite dry. The roasted potatoes were in really big pieces, and we had the impression they had been cooking for a very long time. They were tough on the outside and the inside was very dry. The crackling served with the pork was awful. It was obviously not part of the pork that was cooked at the restaurant, but something that was purchased separately and then added to the plate. It didn't taste very good at all, and was almost too hard to eat. We left most of it. The next morning at breakfast, though, we were thoroughly satisfied with the eggs!! They were cooked to perfection! We had both fried and soft boiled, and both were really good. So, in our estimation, the staff and the breakfast were excellent, but the roast dinner and the sleep quality let us down.

We had a list minute stay at the Eaton Oak. The stay was great in all respects.
