Stayed New Year’s Eve and the window in our room would not open the handle turned but it wouldn’t open and my wife likes a little bit of fresh air in the room. Breakfast was shocking we didn’t end up getting a cuppa as there was only 1 machine and the queue was long but after waiting for 15 mins we finally got to the machine and it had broken. No hash browns or scrambled egg another’s 15 minute wait the food was like slop and they had run out of fresh cutlery. And to top it off we paid £9 for parking and you could get it next door for £4.50 not really good value for there customers

Had a lovely evening stay after an evening watching a gig at a nearby venue. Wouldn't say had the best evening sleep though we were on floor 2 and when the people about came in the early hours could hear them walking up and down. Then below us was the reception/bar/breakfast area and from early hours could hear chairs being dragged along. The rooms was pleasant but the bed's mattress felt lumpy and wasn't the best. Quick check in and out and other than the noise and mattress was friendly pleasant hotel

Spent 2 nights here late July 2024. The location can't be beat for business or leisure stays. Only a couple of minutes walk to both train and bus stations. Very comfortable rooms with everything you might expect from higher rated hotels bar a mini fridge. Breakfast was plentiful with a wide range of options to suit many tastes. Staff were accommodating and helpful and the overall feel of the hotel is very professional. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and recommend it to business, leisure or family groups. HIE Hull never disappoints. Housekeeping service is always fast to respond. And issues with the room (this time was ponding with the shower drainage) was sorted out asap. Staff are always happy and polite. Location is great. Right next to St Stephens Shopping Centre and Hull Paragon Train Station. You never need to rush to catch your train!

Whenever we come to Hull, we always stay at the Holiday Inn Express. Very convenient in terms of location (next to Hull Train station and in the city centre). Breakfast is simple and adequate. The staff are always friendly. Except for one incident during our stay which really made us very angry. We wanted to change room because of a dodgy thermostat which kept on heating up our room, so much so that it became very stuffy and very hot. The kind gentleman at the front desk (Jack) did reset the system 2x and asked whether we wanted to change rooms. We said that it was late andwill leave the window open and will decide the next morning. Unfortunately, the next morning, we were had a very unpleasant encounter with a lady (who spoke with an accent) and who was rude and spoke in a curt manner. She gave the impression that changing rooms was the last thing she would do for us and abruptly asked us to give her 5mins for maintenance to check the system, to which we replied that her colleague, Jack had already tried resetting the system 2x and meanwhile, it would be better if we were to change room. It was obvious that she wasn't listening to our explanation and had alredy made up her mind, that she wasn't going to change our room until maintenance people had checked the thermostat! So when we said that we preferred changing the room, she then had the audacity to tell us to bring our luggage down and wait for the next room to be available!! And when we told her off for her impertinence and her attitude, her explanation was "she's new". This is the 1st time that we have met such an unpleasant and rude lady manning the front desk at Hull Holiday Inn Express. And we have stayed many times at this property. Other than this horrible incident, everybody and everything else is great.
