Having read the previous reviews I had mixed thoughts about staying ...but having said that, as a solo (male)travelling I have no problems coming again, it is old and in need of modernisation but for what you pay I'd say value for money, Staff were friendly and service was good.

Room had a comfortable bed. It was nicer than the more expensive hotel we stayed in at Whitley Bay and more centrally located even not by the sea. Location could not be beat. The bathroom door didn't close, one of the blinds didn't close in the room which is ok as it is on the second floor, as long as you don't mind George the seagull spying on you. The hotel is trying to keep you fit by not providing a TV remote and outfitting the bathroom with a flying toilet seat. They did have a pool table but missing the second cue and cue ball due to fighting over the game, so not worth it as it costs a pound to play. Cramped room to play in as the cue kept hitting the wall. Lack of promised bottled water and breakfast in booking listing was disappointing. Staff was friendly and courteous. Luckily my fiance had ten pounds for check in which was returned.

The hotel is a budget hotel. As such, there is no restaurant, but there are eating options close by. Tea and coffee are supplied in the room. No wardrobes, but plenty of drawers. Although the decor is a little dated, the rooms are clean and comfortable. For a quick stay close to Newcastle centre, the hotel is good value

I enjoyed my third stay at the Grainger Hotel. Staff at the Grainger Hotel are both friendly & helpful. The room with ensuite I stayed in was immaculate & well presented. The bed was very comfortable & I sleep well at the Grainger Hotel. Finally the Grainger Hotel gives me great value for my money afterall.
