Mulu National Park

We book a room for 4. So upon check in we were given a room in Longhouse 1 (Tapang). The room has 4 super single beds. Comfortable and clean. They provide towels for all of us which are clean and not smelly. And the toilet and bathroom are separated, making it convenient for family in case we need to use the toilet when one is using the bathroom. The room overlooks nice little garden. We love how just by hanging out on the balcony, we can see many beautiful butterflies and moths flying around the flowers outside the unit. The unit is located in the park, which is also the starting point for the wooden plank walk to: Deer Cave and Lang Cave, Mulu Summit, Paku Waterfall, Night Walk, Treetop Tower. This is the same park wich has jetty for activities that require boats (Clearwater cave and Wind Cave, Sunset Cruise, etc) We also can just stroll around the botany trail which are furnished with information boards along the trails. For food, there is Mulu Cafe within the park. Because of its remote location, good is on the pricey side. A plate of fried rice will cost you RM 18. A cup of hot plain Lipton tea will cost you RM 7... Overall, highly recommended place to stay in Mulu.

Superb location and nice rainforest lodge. Hairdryer should be provided in room instead of having to go to office and place a deposit to get it.

Overall stay was very good (3 nights at the National park hotel/ lodge). accom. Very good . roomy chalet wit good AC and is clean and modern WiFi and internet. This is a bad point. no WiFi at all and no phone signal. the hotel office has WiFi so could easily add something for guests but choose not to. this is quite bad practice as the cellphone reception is close to zero. Food. quite good at the cafe. local dishes are reasonable quality. breakfast choices a bit limited , but the food is decent. staff. mostly good however some reception staff are a bit unhelpful and borderline rude. quite abrupt and tried to increase the pre-booked pre agreed price for 3 nights saying "our price has increased". this was total BS and came across very badly . after about 20+ minutes of hard arguing they agreed to charge me the agreed and booked price. (plus park fees etc, which was fine). really should not need to argue about this. Staff should not act like they are doing me a favour. prices of the touristy local tours have gone up quite a bit.

Love to stay marriott.. after hike from pinnacles then I can spend some of my time in the bath tub to relax my muscles pain.
