We had driven down from Bristol and arrived in car park at 5.20 only to find pub shut with no one around. I have never known a pub with accommodation to be shut at that time! However, once we gained access at about 6.00pm , everything started improving. A table was booked for our evening meal, there were plenty of choices and the meal arrived hot, nicely cooked and choice of small or large ! Desserts were imaginative and good, and our breakfast order was taken whilst we were at the table. Next morning breakfast was freshly cooked, just what we had asked for, and enabled us to have an early start. The staff were happy to comply with guests and the one night stay was very enjoyable.

So glad we chose Hunters Moon, the welcome is exceptional here, and the food superb. Accommodation suited us very well and is both clean and comfortable. The highlight has to be the hosting though. Dean not only helped us find superb local walks. but found us when we went off track, and set us back on course! Not only is the menu extensive, but the quality great, and my favourite beer on tap. Highly recommended.

I loved my stay here, the room was a bit small but it had everything you needed. The bathroom was a good size. The complimentary bottle of water was nice. The bar/restaurant was interesting a bit quirky but was lovely and I enjoyed my dinner and breakfast next morning. I would recommend staying here.

As I am a very light sleeper I feared I wont be able to rest during my stay. Nothing like it. It is very quiet place shutting down at very reasonable time. I have slept soundly both nights without any need for my earplugs. Very comfortable bed, flat pillows - exactly how I like them! Nice staff, cute dogs. Fantastic pub food! Very good value for the money.

Our stay at The Hunters Moon was just what we wanted and exceeded our expectations. Our room was fine and breakfast and evening meal were excellent. Staff were helpful and friendly. The Hunters Moon is very well situated between Sherborne and Dorchester, both very interesting to explore, and within easy striking distance of the wonderful Dorset coast.
