I returned a year later to this property with a unique, breathtaking position on the coast. I learned that it was under new management. Last time, it was understaffed and undergoing extensive renovation. The sea view room had a sea view from the door, which was okay. My room also came with front billing for the smokers and a couple of fighters who emptied into the outside area during the DJ set on Saturday night. A 03:00 finish, I didn't expect. The food was of excellent quality, the prices were up, and the portion sizes were down from a year ago. Breakfast cereals and pastries have gone, leaving a menu choice only. It was great to see it all fully staffed. On awakening, you come down to the lovely restaurant area to see newspapers, glasses, and the pub side of things not tidied in the morning. The rooms show signs of wear and tear, with significant shower room peeling and wall marks. I assume the last renovation was quick and dirty. My family enjoyed our second weekend in Cornwall, which even provided unscheduled sunshine. The bar and drinks were good, and the additional staff helped with service speed. This place would benefit so much from polishing up some of the service aspects. I also applaud them for offering karaoke and DJ sets; I assume that is not easy to come by around this location. Next time, if I realise there is music on, I would ask for a room around the back and bank a good night's sleep

Stunning views and location, good outside space.Great breakfast,staff friendly,seemed to be popular with the locals in the evening.Property was in need of some tlc but rooms were good and didn't spoil our experience.Great spot for coastal walks and beach.

It was wonderful to wake up with the windows full of the sea view... food was great, and the bar downstairs was warm and cosy.

Lovely breakfast with nice little touches like a coffee cafetière etc, with great views of the sea. My only slight gripe was the dinner menu was a bit limited. But would come again…it’s a lovely location.

This establishment needs to seriously tighten up its fire emergency response! We were awoken abruptly at 11:55pm to a blaring fire alarm, and raced outside in the cold/wet with other guests half nude. 15 minutes later, with no end to the alarm and no staff on site, we took it upon ourselves to call the fire brigade that came 20 minutes later and extinguished a log burner that, I assume, had leaked smoke into the inn, triggering the alarm. The owner/manager never appeared, and we went back to our beds a full hour later, frazzled and unable to fall asleep again for some time. Next morning, we did not hear an apology from the owner/manager, nor did we receive any sort of discount for the extreme inconvenience. The lack of appropriate emergency response, and extremely poor sleep, coloured our experience of this establishment.
