I stayed here in 2024 last week of February. In general hotel is a nice one, however some corridors have a horrible smell due to carpets not being cleaned properly. The room I stayed was 20 and it was just above the kitchen area. Whenever a staff came out of kitchen, kitchen door banged. So hotel should have fitted there a less noise making door. Apart from that bathroom taps are double tap which is very less common nowadays. Room was okay but carpet in the room also had a bad smell. Moreover one of the hinges of wardrobe door was broken and sadly hotel never seen that for sure. The desk in the room is also had lots of paint dents. Apart from these it was okay. Continental breakfast is not bad, but for hot breakfast you have to pay extra. Bed and towels were clean.

This is the most central hotel for Belper. Comfortable room and bed but tired. Cracked tile on bath surrounds. Enjoyable evening meal. Disappointed to find break was only continental with room price.... further cooked breakfast approximately £11 per head extra.... didn't oblige. Continental breakfast poor one choice of meat one choice of cheese and three choices of fresh fruit. Better option would be room only and visit one of the independent cafes in Belper.

Our room was large, clean, comfortable and with a good-sized ensuite. There was plenty of storage space as well as armchairs for us both. We'd asked for a quiet room and they gave us one that overlooked the rear of the hotel away from the road. The continental breakfast was served in a pleasant room and had enough variety to suit us. All in all, we were very pleased.

The hotel describes itself as a "pub with rooms", which would seem reasonable. The hotel is clean, the staff pleasant and the rooms are adequate. The food menu is "unexciting" and although there is a trestaurant area, the noise from the bar was very evident. We were unable to eat in the restaurant and had no desire to fight our way into a crowded bar, so went elsewhere. The included breakfast is "contiental" - cereal and toast in the main, with that strange, watery fruit juice only found in some hotels. A cooked breakfast was extra. The unfortunate issue we had was that our room was directly over the bar, so not relaxing. Worse was that there was entertainment in the bar that evening, with what must have been Derbyshire's very worst singer, who spent the time until 11.30 at night murdering Abba, Elton John, Elvis and the Beatles. One does not wish to complain, nor at bed time ask to change rooms, but having asked for a "quiet room" on the booking, we were not happy. Next time in Belper, we'll use a Travelodge!

We had a lovely time. Room was clean. We were asked if we needed anything by cleaning staff as we were in the room. They filled the tea and coffee station for us. The only thing was the breakfast finished too early 9.45am we missed both days.
