DISAPPOINTING overpriced b & B 1) Payment taken on arrival - most unusual despite being guaranteed by my credit card 2) Breakfast first morning: good. Second morning we were refused any warmed pastriesdespite eating only a few minutes after the other 6 guests. "They have to be warmed in the oven" so clearly too much trouble for the owner.Very good fresh fruit salad. 3) Breakfast time inflexible - 8.00 am sharp although we did "negotiate" 8.20am despite the second morning being Easter Sunday when the clocks had been put forward by one hour - so effectively 07.00 on Easter Sunday. 3) Shower water on both mornings just tepid. 4) Bed in room 5: we found out on leaving that the mattress was only one year old and not fit for sleep as acknowledged by hostess Corinna. 5) Very quiet except for the Exeter line trains about 50 metres away. 6) Very clean, tidy and well appointed, except for the mattress which should have been checked earlier. Breakfast room chilly. Tip: Take warm clothing and an electric blanket. Review by a retired mystery hotel inspector.
