My stay did not start well. I thought I had booked a room at a pub with the same name - but 8 miles away! This was my fault entirely (note to self “do not book online!”) However, I was delighted with my stay. The landlord and landlady, and their staff were brilliant. I needed to get to the place where the other pub was located at 7.30 am, and, in the absence of an available taxi or public transport, the landlord offered to drive me himself. In the event, he didn’t need to as another guest was able to give me a lift. The room was comfortable and the evening meals (beer battered fish and chips) and homemade sweet potato curry were excellent, and the cask conditioned ales were in very good nick. I would certainly book here again.
